Planning of refinishing existing hardwood floor. I do have small expansion / contraction gaps (most are probably 1/64-2/64") I am reluctant to use filler, as it sounds it will eventually just pop out / degrade with future expansion / contraction cycles.

My question is: Will these gaps increase the amount of finishing product required?? Also, would that steer you to using a different application tool (roller vs squeegee)?

Thanks!!

Those gaps aren’t that big and we’re coming off the heating season, which is where your floor likely shrinks. Open your doors and windows during the spring and those gaps will likely close up over the summer.

I would prolly hit the entire floor with filler but that’s just me.
