We are installing solid red oak floors over a garage in an area that is approximately 500 square feet. Do you suggest we glue then nail the floor or is nailing the floor but putting a tar paper underneath the solid floor sufficient? The place that I am buying the floors from suggest gluing and nailing but my installer is saying that tar paper and nailing is sufficient. What do you think?
