Like to break my knee on that Osborne kicker when the pad fell off on a hard stretch . There is a steel plate behind it .

Tools plus the files of patents on over 500 antique carpet tools sorted by date and number. Spent a whole winter researching and printing them out. 2 printers and a whole lot of ink and plastic sleeves later. Still find some more patents.
I have well over 120 tools so far. Got the latest one yesterday and have my eye on more. I displayed them at CFI convention one year and they covered 6 of those folding tables packed in kind of tight. Had a set up where they could try them out using a towel tacked onto the top of one of my crates.

Grandpa had that Roberts stretcher top right in the first picture. The stretcher and 6 tubes were in a plywood box with metal corners. The handle was getting sloppy so I took it to welding class in high school and the teacher welded the worn out/elongated hole on that lever and then re drilled it to fit the bolt diameter.
That was one heavy stretcher box.
Speaking of 'old tools', how come no photo of you? :D
Great collection Daris. Thanks for sharing I can only wonder how some of them functioned.

I used a wooden head stretcher when I first started. It belonged to the guy who taught me. I have tried to buy one from a local store owner for 15 years with no luck.

Oh wow! Those are so cool!
Some of them look like medieval torture devices.
You could probably open up a museum there. I'm glad you took the time to print out the patents so you can preserve the information about them.
