I just ripped out laminate I had previously installed in a half bath in my house to install some wood plank porcelain tiles that my wife picked out at our local box store. Instead of making it easy and laying it straight I thought it would be cool to do a herringbone pattern. I have never installed anything in this pattern let alone tile but hey, if it looks like crap its in my house so who cares? lol. I had done some research to figure out how to strike my lines and without explaining exactly how I did it, got them down. However I must have screwed something up because as I got further down the line each plank got a little further off the line. I took about five or six of the planks and moved them all together back onto the line to adjust the pattern but Im curious as to what I messed up. I dont do much tile anymore, I stick to hardwood and laminate but I though it would be cool to try in my house. Ive never tried a herringbone either, I dont get much call for the fancy stuff, lol. thanks guys.

I have never done a herringbone either. But the flooring pieces need to be exact in dimension or your screwed. Sounds like fun though.
I did landscaping all day so I am hurting.

I remember years ago, I hired a bricklayer to install a red used brick herringbone pattern on my front porch. Poor guy worked all day and while installing the last course, he fell off the line and had to break out the entire job and start over the next day. Yes, a real bugger IMHO.

Not bad, right?

well ken i for one think the job looks great and as a flooring guy the pic looks great too---it shows me the transitions and walls to give me perspective and a sense of tile size--fine work all around

Well thank you. Next time ill be sure to take a picture with a straight edge showing how perfectly flat the floor is? Or maybe a ruler showing how perfectly spaced the groutlines are? Maven is tough man, Im not sure how to please him.

Just feel fortunate he takes the time to critic your pics. heh heh He is the best crapet installer in the states doncha know?

Well, I don't suppose I'm trying to sell anything. I was having a difficult time getting this right so I thought I'd post a pic of the finished product. Dude, you need a hug.

Why is someone deleting Maven's comments? It's making this thread very hard to follow. He's not offending me or any of the other regulars as far as I know.

My comments are perishable. (lol?) Don't you get email updates from the forum?
