How do you get rid of that number notification symbol. I can't get it to go away.

I have almost everytime I get one here, I have the same problem on another site.
Daris I reckon its there if someone has added a post to one of the forums you have made a comment on
Dont think it shows all new posts as one has to click "New Posts" for those to show then "Latest Activity'
