Looked at a problem carpet another installer is dealing with. Patterned cut and loop. The carpet pile runs east but on one room, the pile direction seems to alternate east then west on this seam edge about a foot out from the edge. That one foot area also has a sideways sweep to the direction in some places. All this is mostly on a foot long edge and seems so far to be affection just this one drop. Seam piece is less than 3 feet wide by 12 feet long and the pile on the seam piece lays down the same direction as the main body of the room.
Will a steamer correct this? I've never seen a steamer used so I wouldn't have a clue how to do the correction. Sort of like pile crush from setting.
If you look from one direction, it's not so terribly bad. If you stand in the corner directly on the fill piece and look down on it, the difference looks like night and day.
If you set the fill piece in the wrong direction (give it a 180), the match is pretty good........... but that's not the right correction to do.
