Hello professionals/experienced fellas,

I am planning on laying laminate on my home, and I have the following question before I get started:

Is okay to lay a padded moisture barrier underneath a pre-padded laminate floor? Or should I stick with the thin plastic underlayment?

My goal would be to avoid excess echo and hollowness, and provide a bit of a softer/warmer laminate.

Specifically, I am working:

Laminate is 10mm thick with 2mm attached pad.
moisture barrier/padding would be 1.9 mm (0.075 in) or just moisture barrier 0.25mm (0.006in)

Thank you in advance!

No, It's not ok. By adding another layer of pad you will increase deflection (vertical movement) this will over time break the locking joints on your laminate destroying the floor. No No No.

I second that.
The "pad" is not really padding. It's there for sound deadening.
