Hi,
I"m new to the Forum. I am replacing the flooring in a small area at the back porch/landing. (48x52 in.) I am getting the area ready for the ceramic tile installers. I pulled up the layer of luxury vinyl tile and a layer of ceramic tile. The flooring store recommended I pull the layer of subfloor in the small area rather than try and scrape the thin-set /glue off.
Here is the issue, When I pulled the 1/2" sheet up, I found that there is an area near the steel door threshold 3" X 30" where they used a skim of thin set? concrete material. So, I have an area where I cannot screw the edge of the plywood. My first thought is to use a small concrete bit and predrill some holes then use a 2" floor screw every 4". Any suggestions.
