Trying to get some insight if it would be smarter to tear out a 1000sqft basement with 12x12 tile or patch over the grout joints and level it out for a floating floor. There is quite a few spots where the tiles have significant lips that would need floated and some cracked tiles removed.

I’ve estimated the patch work cost, but am unsure of what to expect to pay for a tear out. Located in the Midwest, St. Louis Missouri to be specific.

Your most economical option is to prolly grind down the lippage on your existing tile floor and go over that. Deal with the loose/ cracked tiles individually. Prime everything first then float it smooth.

Self leveler isn’t cheap. I would think if you’re gonna drop that kinda money that you would spring for removing the existing tile floor and starting over with a clean slate.
