Well....we usually don't take pictures of snappers and such. Just the beautiful Salmon. But, they weren't cooperating this trip, so we just beat up one the rock fish and the ever yummie Dungeness crab. Got lots of them. Will be headed back over there in a couple weeks for another try at the Salmon.

Just good to be on the ocean and cookin fresh fish and crab at the camp.

Catching and cooking crab. It don't get much better.

No, that's not me.:)

From the sun's angle, that kinda looked like Loeb Park within an hour or so of beer30.

Good eye High. Loeb it is, with the Chetco just visible in the background. I've been camping there off and on now for near 35 years. A great place. They got showers now too. We's up town. :D

In Sept. and Oct. you can walk 30 feet down to the river and have a good chance of hooking a steelie or a nice fat Salmon headin up. And about a 15 minute drive to the boat. Perfect!

It was easy Darol. I camped there once in my life, in 1994
I remember it well................ The California lottery was up to $2million or so, and so I decided to head south to Brookings for the weekend. I'm guessing late 80's.
That night, I was listening to the am radio in my camper and tho reception was crappy, I realized that I had won $5............ Wahoo, I WON, I WON!!!
Wanna guess how much gas it took me to cross over once more into CA and pick up my $5 :D

That weekend I proceeded another 25 or 30 miles up the river to discover Vulcan Lake. Nice 1/2 hour hike from the trailhead.
This image of the lake viewed from the trail above was taken at a different time, a few years later in early spring.

I caught them kind of crabs when I was stationed in Florida. The blue ones I mean, but some of my buddies caught the other ones somehow.
We caught the blue ones with a kids sand bucket. Took them home and cooked them. Threw them out and went to McDonalds.

We use to go off the piers in Ocean City .

I remember going to OC as a child when the water would wash up under the boardwalk, you could watch the crabs in the water! Now, the water ain't near the boardwalk.
Takin' a day trip there on Wednesday, I will blow the horn as I pass your house Nick.:D

You just might need to return there again someday. I'm headed back over in a week or two. Maybe if you can tear yourself away from all your work, you can come down and have a fesh seafood dinner with us.

The lake looks really nice. Next time I'm blown off the water, I'll have to go check it out. Now they've got a casino that you can spend your lotto winnings at just south of Brookings-.;)

Never had blue crab Nick. Any good? These are Dungeness, which are Deeelicious. Rock crabs are out there too, but much smaller and not as good to eat. In a pinch, they'll do. :)
