People having fences around their property is not the same as putting up a border wall/fence whatever across land owned by citizens. Fences serve to mark property lines and keep livestock contained. Sometimes it's about keeping things IN rather than OUT. Even with fencing, things still get through.

Mind you, I am not opposed to walls/fences in strategic places, and with the permission of the land owners (none of the eminent domain land seizure crap). A wall of the scale Trump wants is not feasible or necessary. Furthermore, I do not trust him to have the $ appropriated properly & to not use it as some scam to line his pockets or aid the Russians. There have already been bids & proposals from Russians on the building of the wall.

Meanwhile, federal employees & contractors can't pay their bills. The contractors aren't allowed to take other jobs & will not receive back pay. The very people who enforce our border security are being furloughed or working unpaid so they have reduced staff-- weakening our border security.

Then there was that bit about the Mexicans driving really fast super-cars or something to get across the border. I don't know if someone told him to say that or if he just pulled it out of his nether regions. But, he is stuck on this whole wall thing to the detriment of our country and citizens. And because he's holding federal employees hostage, he's guaranteeing that the Democrats will not agree to his demands because they view it as a hostage situation & know that if they cave, he will just do it again every time he wants something & doesn't get his way. It's abuse of power and no president or Congress should use people as pawns like that. If it were reversed & the Democrats were the ones shutting things down and making demands from the Republicans, I would feel the same way.

I still think that ANY Democrat would be stupid to cave to Trump's demands in this situation because it will only encourage him to do it again. They have to refuse on principal. If the Democrats were trying to pass a law, even if I agreed with it, and shut down the government to coerce the Republicans to cave to their demands, I would want the Republicans to say "No" too. Shutdowns are not a tactic that should be used to manipulate the sides. They are playing games with people's lives. They could re-open the government and revisit the wall thing later. Besides, if it was such an important issue, why didn't they do it when the Republicans controlled both House and Senate? They lost their window of opportunity.

I'll be honest that I don't know all that much about Pelosi and Schumer. I know I don't like Feinstein over some BS she pulled when my father was still with INS. But right now McConnell is the one that is bugging me the most because he's refusing to even allow bipartisan bills to be voted on. It's no accident that he received a ton of $ from Russian oligarchs.

As an aside, I saw that Joe Lieberman just filed as a lobbyist to represent the interests of a Chinese company that is a front for a spy network.

You forgot to include that Trump paid off Rosenstein to resign hoping it would damage Muellers witch hunt. :D

Got a link to that? How much money? I never even heard Jim Acosta mention that.

Trump had a temper tantrum like a 2 year old today.
The mainstream news is a branch of the democrat party. Schummer said it, .........so it was.
Trump is dealing with people just as stubborn as he is. I hope he holds out.
This is entirely politcal and everyone knows it. It's about hating Trump, not logic and reason.

Has Pelosi, Schummer, Biden, Clinton, Boxer or the rest of the the Demoncrats explained their reversal on the wall??? They were for it previously.
.........they were telling the "immigrants" to go home. They just want more voters and dependents.
(slaves like Kim has)

Yes dems have voted for walls, barriers before. But not a 50 ft wall from sea to shining sea/ In fact, the GOP lead senate passed a bill that has appropriations for increased border security but no the wall, the house voted with them but then Trump closed the .gov. Currently there is 700 miles of improved fences since Obama was in office.
So what are we going to do? Tear down all the new walls we paid for so he can goat about his new improved useless wall?

Lets see, most of the lawmakers from the border states don't want a wall.
Most of the people who own property on the border don't want a wall.
The majority of Americans don't want a wall.
Environmentalists don't want a wall.'
But little Donnie will stomp his feet and hold his breath if he doesn't get one.

The Department of Homeland Security found in 2017 that the steel slat border wall prototype can be cut through with a saw, NBC News reported Thursday. President Trump has been championing the steel slat design as a cost-effective alternative to a concrete wall in an attempt to demonstrate his willingness to negotiate with Democrats during the government shutdown.
