I live 2 1/2 miles from the city center.............. small town USA in case ya didn't know. Waaaaay out here, 
D) it gets dark at night being so far away from the city lights.
My neighbor, 100 feet to the west bought some 'possibly illegal' fireworks and put on a show. In Oregon, I think the regulations say that nothing can explode, and nothing can fly more than about 6" above the ground.
I had my cheapo cell camera pointed up at 45 to 60 degrees and his pyro toys were exploding above the fir trees which must be over 75 feet tall.
Pretty impressive and long lasting show for being right next door. I heard a few small chunks of shrapnel land on my deck and the carport. No windows broke from the explosions, so I guess what he had were safe.
