Why do you think we had the war with England? We no longer wanted to be servants.
The vulnerable had to stand firm, because the exploiters would not stand soft. I speak in riddles🫤 sorry !

The tricky business about war, is while you’re deep into it, the vulnerable side can easily become the exploiter side. 🤔 …. Even if you didn’t start it, how wise is it to perpetuate it ?

Ah, the UK. Did you know a man was recently convicted there because a cop thought he might be silently praying on the street? It is illegal to silently pray in some places there. Kind of hard to prove that you were not praying. But if an officer says you are, you are guilty.

Its amazing how the hatred of the civil war has been passed on. I was stationed in Pensacola from Jan 1963 to Sept 1966 and the southern guys always referred to us from the north as Yankees. My daughter moved to the Alabama coast and she was a damned Yankee in the 90's. When in Pensacola I was told there were 3 kinds of Yankees: one that came down on vacation and went home, Damned Yankee- one that came down and stayed for awhile and went home, God Damned Yankee- SOB comes down and never goes home!
So after over a 100 years the war still goes on.

Sunday Morning program had a segment on Emit Till today 😢 and I couldn’t help feeling disappointed that the primary issue was not shared on how we move forward. 😢 😢 …. Freedom of expression and the requirements that come with that.

If we teach our children the requirements that come with freedom of choice, expression and speech, that foundation, IMHO will inspire them to be more open minded about different choices from different people who choose differently.

After Emitt Till whistled at the pretty shop owners wife, if the culture back then was one of open mindedness to differences of thinking, acting and behavior ( All aspects of Freedom of Speech ) then would they have overreacted like they did ? …..

Now here comes some radical open mindedness, understood by most, but unwilling to speak about, due to push back by populistic powers. So here we are ( The Human Race) destined to repeat lessons learned long ago, by refusing to give understanding and forgiveness to the perpetrators, because if you want to really learn how to improve, we must shine a spotlight on the perpetrators Upbringing and be open minded to understanding, Accepting, and Forgiving. When enough people strap on a pair of Tough Forgiveness, that’s when real improvement starts.

In basic, it changed later on, the black guys from the north had nothing to do with southern blacks or white guys. Southern blacks and most white guys got along good with each other. When we finally got out into the action, it did not matter where anyone was from. You had to trust each other.

Applying some understanding to both parties involved in this scenario, may also provide the literal understanding, then forgiveness of both 🤔

Very interesting how history and stories influence the way up coming generations look and feel about the world around them.

The ‘ Hidden Brain ‘ radio series had a Phycologist guest talking about ‘ The power of family stories ‘ and I’m sure the same is true with our ‘ Country Stories’

One finding, after doing research with soldiers exposed to traumatic experiences. The soldiers, who families shared stories, were more likely to recover. As if the stories themselves provided a barrier or a build up of confidence and mental strength that prepared them to survive mentally.

I’m also seeing a negative barrier in Rusty’s story. The Northern blacks felt uncomfortable around the Southern Whites and Blacks, because of the north/ south divide…. I guess the trick of the story is to share the overall picture of accomplishment. That despite challenges and circumstances, when past stories apply understanding and lessons learned, we as a society are building beneficial barriers into the next generation to be more equipped to handle challenges. PS> but like the Phycologist lady said, we must be willing to share some of our family / Countries transgressions 🤔 🤷🏻‍♂️

Since my background is Irish, many of my family were slaves. Where are my reparations?
Comparing Comparing Comparing, will only keep us stuck. Broaden the view .

Asking for what you want or think you deserve is different than demanding and expecting…. And here’s the problem. We the general public may be interpreting the ‘ Asking ‘ as ‘ Demanding ‘ and that type of judgement is like assuming and we all know how that goes. FLEXIBILITY baby is key, through making the choice to give understanding around complex issues IS THE TRUE EQUALIZER…. Well maybe Denzel Washington 😜 …. Choose today so that tomorrows disconnect can become connected. Just for the hell of it, pretend you’re me and reply with a ‘ fake it till you make it ‘ reply, giving understanding to the groups of exploited people asking for reparations. Step out of the comfort zone and see how it feels.
