Paint sprayer for base and shoe

Favors n stuff like that are directly related to the shop you’re working for and the rates they pay. Big boobs help too.

As far as the sprayer goes, this thing works like a champ. It uses the fine finish (FF) tips so you gotta make sure you filter your paint before you spray it otherwise you may get some clogs. The advantage is less overspray and a much nicer finish to the paint job. I’m using a FF 210 tip and it works great. This funky paint spout is pretty nifty as well. Sure does make pouring paint easy and mess free. TBH clean up of the sprayer is kinda time consuming but if you don’t clean it properly the pump won’t last so just know that going into it. Besides I’d rather spend 30 minutes cleaning but save hours, and I do mean hours, painting.

The thing is awesome. Well worth the money.
I just got some more smooth cast from Acme tools.
I was telling a carpenter about it and he said he can cope just as fast with a grinder with a flap disc. I doubt that.

I’ve been using the Graco Ultimate cordless sprayer for maybe 6 months now and this thing just plain ol kicks ass. It uses the green Fine Finish tips and wow do they make a difference. I let my buddy use my sprayer the other day for some touch up and he was blown away by how nice it works. That and he didn’t have to go through all the set up and clean up of his airless sprayer. He wants one now.

To get properly set up to use this baby you’re gonna need a couple things in addition to the sprayer itself.

1. Pump juice, gotta have some pump juice. When you’re cleaning up your sprayer and getting ready to put it away you want to run a little pump juice through it just like you would a pressure washer or something like that. Gotta treat it like you love it and nothing says love like a lil pump juice.

2. Filter cones and a stand to hold them. You gotta filter your paint, especially with the smaller tips such as the FF tips. I picked up a bunch of filter cones and a stand to hold them. Makes for trouble free set up which makes for trouble free spraying.

3. Paint can pour spout. This thing is your friend. We both know you’re not good enough to pour paint without making a mess. I’m sure not, that’s why I got one of them fancy paint can pour spouts. Be smart, just get one before you say ‘Sure wish I got one cus I’m makin a mess’.

4. Tips. Show me your tips Big ones, small ones, it all depends on what you’re spraying. I’ve found a 210 works like magic for painting base. Doesn’t matter what kind of paint I’ve used a 210 will handle it. Clear coat is a lot thinner so you need a smaller tip for that. 208 works great for spraying clear coat. Now if you’re gonna paint a wall or something that you will want a bit more paint applied to the surface then you might wanna jump up to a 12. 212 or even a 312 if you have a bigger area to cover. Tips are $35 to $40 each on Amazon.

Clean up is easy. Takes me maybe 30 minutes when I’m spraying paint. It’s a bit thicker so you gotta put more love into cleaning your sprayer. Clear coats are thiner so clean up is much quicker. 15 to 20 minutes to clean up and put everything away after spraying clear coat.

So if you got 8 bones to drop and wanna bust a move on spraying base, cabinets or pretty much any smaller job, just get one of these. Don’t wait 3 months thinking about it like I did, just get it. You’ll amaze you customers and more importantly you’ll amaze yourself.

Water based urethane, dries to the touch and recoatable in 1 hour. It’s dry here so I got 5 coats in 4 hours. You need one of these.

In some parts of the country painting base or 1/4 round is part of the deal before you install it. Even if it’s not part of the deal where you live it certainly is a way for you to boost the job and it totally makes sense because when else is someone more likely to get new base or 1/4 round then right after the installation of new flooring. Maybe you sub it out, which I’ve done many times in the past, or maybe you decide to bust a move by doing it yourself and pocket some extra chedda, like I do now.

Painting is part of the deal in Arizona. I didn’t like it at first because I wasn’t fast at painting so I was just watching the clock go round as I wasn’t making squat for money. Then I got the cordless sprayer and that changed everything. I can honestly say I’ve never been better compensated for installing, and painting, base then I am right now.
