I am stumped about how to install a partial wood floor on concrete and keep it from moving. Rather than hardwood in the whole basement (Engineered for basements), i am only doing 4 ' wide walkway at the bottom of my stairs in a path to the bathroom and laundry room, then carpet on the other side to the rest of the basement.
My question is, if the floor is "floated" like the company recommends and i have the underlayment and 6 mil poly, what if anything will stop it from shifting ? do i glue the flat molding (hardwood to carpet butt moulding) that connects the floor to the carpet or don't use unerlayment and glue directly to concrete (or even elastion ?) the flooring company says to float the floor with the vapor barrier.... any ideas ?
thanks in advance.
