Grandpa gnome looks like he's ready to tell you a story. I love the detail of the cabbage leaf that his shirt is made of...

It's been so cold and windy lately that there hasn't been much opportunity to get outdoors. I've been trying to go to indoor places to get some exercise and practice in.
Our city has an historical landmark called the Embassy Theater that was built in 1926. It's an amazingly beautiful piece of architecture. This year it celebrated the 40th annual Festival of Trees. It's a huge charity event that raises a lot of money for those in need. Some of my shots from that event...

They had record attendance... It was actually busier when we came through the lobby below it was totally elbow to elbow.

My Aunt lives in Arizona and isn't able to get around like the used to. She loves Christmas... Lights, concerts and everything about it. She'd love an event like that.
Very nice indoor photo. Something I could never do on Kodachrome 64, my film of choice. Digital sure changed things. 👍

I just love the detail of the little frog sitting in front of the gnome's shovel and the way they created the little flowers on either side of the cottage door...

I made a shake slicer years ago for my girlfriend. It had a powerful 60 rpm motor from a commercial copy machine. It used a .025" utility blade. I'd cut 1 inch off the end of a cedar fence board, then feed it into the cutter as the motor rotated.
Kind of a Ranco Shake-O-Matic. 😁 Safety wise? 🤔 No, not approved at all. 🤣
I made little "bird house" thingys and shed decorate them and add lights, stained glass windows and moss etc.
......yes, ....of course I still have the Shake-O-Matic. 😁

You know CFR I live approximately 120 miles from you and have lived in Michigan 56 years and have never seen a bluebird here. Must be to cold for them.
There's a pretty good population at the marsh where I walk a lot. They started putting out nesting boxes for them several years ago to help increase the population. They definitely aren't as common as say robins, cardinals or bluejays, more like warblers and orioles. You see them occasionally, but not a common sight. I was surprised to see this one hanging around so late at they generally have migrated south by now. They are my mom's favorite bird. She's always glad when I get a picture of one. :)

The dark-eyed juncos have been migrating in to us the past month or so. I love to see them. They are lively little birds! They are fun to watch in the snow. I caught this one about two weeks ago at one of our county parks.

Well..... Let's try something. 🤔
Now, if I can ever do this again. 🙄
This is off of a flash drive to my phone. Most files I scanned at like 48mb, so I'm not sure if this site resizes them. I don't even know how large this one started our as.
Anyway, I named it Jims poppy.
I worked for the fella and his wife a few times and he asked me to stay at his home whenever they took a vacation or cruise.
It was a dozen miles up the river and his home was right next to the river. Where he lived, the river was still affected by tides.
This was in his garden.

This a is a wave bursting high into the air. The people are standing 75 to 90 feet above the ocean. No, that's not a large bush on the right side of the photo. Look close on the left side of the wave burst. See my pet seagull. His name is lucky 😁

One of my lucky ones. Shot just before dark. My exposure time was about 1/4 seconds as I recall... Maybe 1/2.
I watched the pilot boat head out and disappear into the fog bank. A couple hours earlier I saw the ship offshore, awaiting the arrival of the pilot.
So, I knew why the pilot boat was headed out. It was just a waiting game. Sometimes it's clear along the beach and the fog just sits offshore like a brick. No way would I ever be able to get these ducks back in a row, so this ones special.
