It's an oldheimers trick from days gone by. If you place a tiny film of Vaseline around the perimeter of a filter, it blurs the edges and creates a soft focus lens if you have the aperture set right.

Both those kids, my 5 year old granddaughter and my 3 year old grandson, are smarter than PaPa. They are both in "Gifted" programs. They can't really judge his IQ, he is off the charts for preschoolers. Didn't get it from me.

I haven't seen my lawn since the end of November. I shoveled a path to my storage shed and there is about 16' of snow on the flat. I think our streets have been shortened up by six feet wide. I have a hard time backing out of the drive without hitting the snow bank across the street.
