IMO, the steam cleaners are over rated. Hot water and good chemical with the correct agitation cleans. I don't know what type of surface you are cleaning though.

I aren't trying to clean anything even though I thought these steam mops might have been a good idea to clean the excess glue from the planks when one was laying them. After checking out these flooring manufacturer's sites I decided it wasn't one of my better ideas :)
I was just pointing out the damage steam mops could cause on different flooring products :)
The ads we get on TV here basically say you can clean anything

Exactly, they are trying to sell you something so basically they will say
anything to make the sale.

Our outfit deals with floating floors, not my side of it though, and I hear they are getting phone calls saying their floating floors are blowing. Our sales guy says go see the people who sold you the steam mop. Here is the price to replace it. End of story.

They called me a few years back to go out and show the consumer how to steam clean their hardwood . They were getting a lot of complaints .

I told them if i went out i would have to put the blame on the cleaner .

We argued back and forth for 1/2 hr before i told them to go **** themselves .
