Measured up a job yesterday by the beach, 27 miles south of me.
The kitchen/dining room have south facing windows. I hate this super thin click flooring because the lock is so tiny. I think it requires a lot more prep, to ensure movement doesn't eventually snap the locking joint.
I'd like to tell the customer to spend more money on the thicker planks rather than on additional prep, so the floor flat as glass.
The floor is currently ceramic tile. It's gonna need slim coating, probably a couple coats, maybe skim all the grout lines then two skim coats or SLC.
The other issue with the thin planks is the sunlight all afternoon. I can see that stuff buckling.
In the first image your looking into the kitchen. Straight ahead is south, west it to the right. It's a good 13 feet of windows...... low windows.
Zoom in to the lower right of the island.
Thoughts? Recomendations?
.....yea, yea, tell em to keep the shades down all day. 🙄

Pretty much.

I know you already read the book, there ain’t no magic tricks. Even the thicker boards don’t like direct sunlight.

Or pick a different product. Ceramic planks that look like wood. Or have the ceramic they have now professionally cleaned and get rid of the folding chairs that are marking it up, add area rugs. Or rip out all the ceramic and put down real hardwood (my favorite).

Part of this upstairs is tile, another small section is wood and with the new flooring it's all going to be the same. I know these are "supposed to be" protected from all day sun exposure, but people do like to see out their windows.
They'll of course be advised of keeping the shades down as much as possible.
I'm concerned about these thin planks..... I wish they didn't exist.
