We've been

having our usual summer winds which can run day and night sometimes. Nothing close to that. Is the car still driveable?
Our summer winds usually change to a breeze at night. Gusts to the high 20's is as bad as it usually gets, so nothing compared to that. Worst thing about spring and summer winds are the trees are decked out in leaves making them easier to topple. 40 to 60 mph gusts in the winter don't do a lot of damage here. Our trees are used to that.
Car is ok to drive. But the windshield does need to be replaced, soon.

Never fails, we have 100 degree weather for two weeks and not a mention on the national news. It is going to be that hot on the east coast, and OMG, everyone is going to die there.

Not everyone i hope .. I don't have any plans on doing so .. It has been in the 90s here the last few days , getting hotter each day ..

They probably mentioned it in New Zealand's evening weather forecast.
They just know you guys can deal with it Rusty so it's not a big deal.
I'll take our winds and breezes any day over your high temperatures. I literally begin to melt at 80 degrees. I'd burst into flames at 95.
66 to 69 is typical here this time of year
..occasional 75's or better on occasions.

Highup, that Lamerdown 2018 looks good! Clever solution.

Floorist, sorry to hear about the tree branch breaking the windshield. Hopefully it was just the glass and no other damage-- but that glass can be a pain to clean out. I've been there before. One of these days I'll post some pics of the tree damage to my vehicles over the years.

Went to hang out with my friend the past couple of days. Day before yesterday we were visiting him at work and he had a very chatty customer. Nice guy with a pretty motorcycle. Says he refurbishes/repairs guitars. He said he used to be a contractor and he talked about some of the late contractors that used to be in town. He overheard my friend lamenting that his grandfather paid a plumber $300 to do the plumbing and instead of hooking the sink and washing machine to existing vents, he put holes in the walls to the outside and then slapped AAVs on the vents outside. Up until 2016, AAVs were actually banned here. Even if they are allowed now, they shouldn't be put on washing machines. He didn't even seal around the holes where he took brick out of the wall on the outside. My friend had already dug the trenches for the pipe to go on the outside but the guy didn't even put the pipe deep enough in the trenches to be buried and didn't do any digging himself. He wanted to use 2" for the entire run, but my friend had bought 3" pipe (my friend provided all of the pipe but the plumber just glued stuff & slapped the cheap ABS AAVs on).

The chatty customer overheard us talking about what a sham job the plumbing was and started talking about plumbing. He was claiming that you can't put a P-trap on a kitchen sink and started arguing with me about it-- saying it clogs to much. I told him that current plumbing code requires a P-trap. When I mentioned that state code had been repealed in 2016 and reverted to IPC 2012 he conceded that I knew more about the current plumbing code than he did. Now, I don't know if P-traps were ever banned or if he misunderstood what P-traps were or if he was just BSing bc he thought I wouldn't know... LOL.

The store closed at 9pm and one of the employees asked my friend (who was the supervisor) to tell the chatty guy it was time to close, but it is against store policy to do so. The lights automatically shut off at 9:05pm, so I told the guy that it was closing time and the lights were about to shut off, so he decided to stop chatting and check out.

My old dog is doing better-- she is refusing to keep her diapers on, but she peed on some puppy pads and has been walking around, standing, etc and not having too much trouble with mobility. Weather has been far too hot to let her back outside though.

George Carlin always cracked me up. I have waaaay too much stuff. I need to go through and get rid of stuff. I have stuff in boxes that haven't been opened since they were first packed up in 1992. I really need to clear off my porch as well. Got some junk we meant to haul off that is still out there-- old TVs and junk.

I read the Jurassic Park novel years before it was made in to a movie and then watched the movie in the theater. I really enjoyed the original (although I nitpicked the differences in the book). We all loved dinosaurs so we got a bunch of the mdse related to the movies. Our favorite was a spray bottle with the head of the spitter dinosaur. My father pointed the spitter at my sister's then-boyfriend and said "John, in the next 3 seconds your life depends on your knowledge of paleo-biology". John said "Paleo-what?" So Dad sprayed him right in the face. Velociraptors were my father's favorite. I haven't seen any of the new movies yet.

The heat here has been abysmal. I've been waiting until the evening when it started to cool down to go outside. Now that all of the dogs are inside, there isn't a need to go out unless I am going into town to go to the store.

The Lamerdown works pretty good and cost nothing.
About that 3" pipe, size is important. I don't know all the details, and I also don't know what code says about that particular run of pipe and what it eventually connects to. A smaller pipe has more velocity so the pipe doesn't clog up like it might with one that's too large. 2" might be better if the washer is the only thing that uses it.

Remember me giving the neighbor family the car for Christmas? Those people have the worst luck. He found a full time job. But, two days ago he had a seizure, fell and fractured his skull and is bleeding in the brain. He is only 40 and may not make it. He is in a hospital 60 miles from here and my wife just left to take his family down to see him.
