I'm writing a line in my contract about not being liable for incidental damages . Especially things not current to code.
I already have a blurb about not being responsible for elevated MVE after initial documented tests.

What is MVE?
And man, that flooding must have sucked. We had to shut off the waterline to our fridge bc it kept leaking. We have a lot of PVC supply lines coming through the floor. I did note that there is a shutoff under the floor for my toilet's water supply but I don't think there is one under my mother's toilet water supply.
Mom didn't feel like getting up on Wednesday so I ended up sleeping most of the day & all through the night. Felt a little better today. Had more energy & thought I was ready to tackle the world. Then I tried to stand up & fell right back down bc my body wasn't keeping up. I was thinking "I feel like I'm in my 20s again!" then I was like "Nope-- 40s..."

The good news is that I lost enough weight that I can fit my new belt pouch around. Last time I tried to put it on it was 1/2" too short. Now it fit easily. I moved most of my stuff from my old pouch to my new pouch. It's smaller & has fewer pockets but it's also waterproof, stiffer, & holds up better. The wider band hits the right spots on my back that it actually helps when I'm having pain. Couldn't fit my swiss army knife case over the end so I had to put it on a secondary belt thing on it. I'll have to find a way to secure that strap for my knife. Got my keys attached as well. I don't like that the rings for the straps are plastic so I might add/replace them with metal.

I got a piece of leather and a magnetic snap to use to add a strip to my new wallet so I can snap it closed. I got a nice men's wallet with RFID blocking. I got a scrap leather kit for $5 & have quite a bit of the stuff. I'm thinking of adding extra pockets inside the wallet for insurance cards & junk. The new pouch fit my retractable back scratcher, retractable magnet stick, and small travel measuring tape.

The annual gas gouging has begun. Our gas has gone up 25 cents in the last two days. 50 cents in the last three weeks. $2.49 today, $2.39 yesterday, $2.23 on Tuesday.

Diesel has been holding at $2.79 gal. But i stopped at a Quick trip station yesterday where the listed price was $2.79 but at the pump it was 2.53 gal.
I think someone screwed up. So i filled up my 30 gal tank.
Since then all around town its still 2.79.
Someone is in trouble.

Gas gouging is because of a conversion from winter to summer formulations and a convenient time for maintenance. Happened every year since forever. No news.

I mean, say to have 5000, 1 million gallon tanks of paint. Every spring the government requires you to change the paint base from using lacquer thinner in your paints to regular paint thinner.
You have to time your current levels of paint with lacquer to end and magically start producing paint with paint thinner.
If it costs money for them to change the fuel composition on a required date, they have a lot of work to do estimating when they will running out, and then having an available supply of new gas. They also have to estimate demand and the economy and weather can affect that.
I want gas at $1.69 too........ like in 1978. Gas has not increased very much compared to almost anything else.
Thanks to Trumps drill baby drill program. :D So much better producing so much fuel that we are not owned by OPEC anymore.............. right? ......naysayers? :D

Floorist, my brother is learning Japanese as well & getting quite good at it. If your son would like any good resources, let me know & I can ask my brother and send the info to you.

Highup, thanks for explaining that about the gas prices, I didn't even realize they changed the blends.

Perimenopause (something I didn't ever hear about in school & that doesn't seem to get a lot of press) seems to be kicking my ass. It's a pre-menopausal hell that is supposed to start in mid to late 40s but started in my late 30s & it sucks. Apparently it can last years. Apparently not all women get it-- my mother just went straight to menopause in her 50s. I don't think my sister has had it yet, but I haven't compared notes. I've been talking to other women around my age who are going through it now & we all agree it sucks & we hope it will end soon. Memory loss, trouble concentrating, mood swings, weight gain, irregular cycles, irregular heartbeat, exhaustion, excessive sweating, irritability, & hot flashes are some of the symptoms. The memory loss is the worst with exhaustion & trouble concentrating being 2nd. The sweating is highly annoying as well. The medicine was helping for awhile but it doesn't seem to be helping anymore so I will either need different medicine or a higher dosage.

On the upside, I now have all the stuff I need to attempt to grind down the floor, I just need to clean up the space & wait for my friend to come over on Tuesday. He gets food, some work gloves, and safety glasses out of it. Any tips or suggestions before he comes out to try to grind down the self-leveling crap? I think if he can get down the high spots & sharpest bumps it will make it easier to use some sort of skim coat like stuff to smooth out the rest (and I will make sure to use it right away instead of waiting).

Like I just said, government summer/winter blends are mandated. People think the oil companies change fuel blends for kicks and giggles every spring? Price of oil doesn't make the price change.

You said you are trusting the new MVP adhesives and don't do so much moisture testing like days of old. I know my area like you do your own area, but with wood products, any hint of moisture issues would scare me to death when considering or trusting MV blocking products. I'd like a 1/2 inch deep of epoxy primer and 2" of self leveler before using a MVP adhesive. One failure and I'd have to go live in Mexico......... that is, if they allow US immigrants. :D
Are there any wood frame foundations in Arizona?

Crap, I'm having many of those symptoms! ............like mood swings.............. work, no work, work, no work. I can't remember the way I stretched the carpet in the same house I did 30 years ago. So far, so good. Stress level is through the roof on this one. Customer has been told that I'm the only one that can do this job.
............but I can't remember how I did it the first time, 30 years ago............ am I repeating myself? :D
I don't have the cycle issues anymore because I sold mine. :D
............but bathroom trips are more 0ften than 30 years ago.:D

If you can rig up a fan blowing outwards from the nearest window, that would help with dust issues......... still need a mask and a a friend holding a shop vac wand held close to the grinder as a huge plus. Filters will get plugged really fast.

Map out the high spots with a straight edge of some kind. Draw circles on the floor like a topographic elevation map. Sand off the tops and re-draw the map as you progress.

Do you realize how they do it? Remember the old DX with super boron? They dumped a gallon can of it in 300 gallons of gas. It is just an excuse to raise prices. It doesn't cost more to make it.

I can't even remember most of high school or much of my childhood anymore. I can't remember the day before or even hours before on some things. I'll forget names & words mid-sentence. It's gotten a bit better with the progesterone medicine but I've been so exhausted the past few days. I was incredibly cranky last night & early this morning bc I just felt so worn out but the damn cats kept waking me up. I couldn't get comfortable & kept rolling over & had to put the cats out of the room bc they wouldn't leave me alone. Stomach was hurting from post-nasal drip so I took my medicine early this morning - including allergy meds for the runny nose.

I got masks specifically for the dust (they were sold right next to the face shield). The only window has a storm window on top & it's on the opposite end of the room. Shop vac is a good idea. I'll have to see if I can find ours. Might be in the workshop. Marking the high areas is a good idea too. Thanks! Some of the stuff is around the closet flange & it's possible that the grinder might accidentally hit the flange, but I bought 2 flanges when I went to the store so there's an extra in case it breaks.

What are the chances that the cup wheel might break? My friend was worried about that possibility.

Meanwhile, my cousin called me bc it's the 10th anniversary of my father's death. She was close with him as well & we all miss him. She's having some trouble with her ex-husband. He's refusing to get a job to pay child support & he's refusing to give her the title of the house (which she was awarded in the divorce) so she can't sell it. She's still on good terms with her ex father-in-law though, so he's trying to help.

I'm still waiting to hear back from my sister on travel arrangements next month.

So you have to know first off that there's adhesive products for wood that are only good to 85% rh or the usual standard for CaCl which is 3# in 24 hr per 1000 sf. Then there is some manufacturers that say a CME is good to use and that limit is around 3. Then there's the 100% all in ones you can use either way, regular trowel or the specified trowel for moisture blocking. And some throw a clip on thats the 100% trowel.
The adhesive manufactures (some) say NO need for MVE tests. But then the catch is the wood manufacturers say TEST! Watcha gonna do? I run a scan around the house with my CME. If I hit high spots (or borderline spots) I'll throw down some rh sensors. Unless the slab looks wet, no problem with the Sikabond T-21, Bostick Greenforce, and Bostik Single Step, even MVP with Bostik Best. I will scarify the slab with a diamond grinder to open up the slab so it can vent, plus get close to a csp-2 to 3. Check sensors again a week later to see if the emissions go down. I have gone over 99% rh with Green force and Single step. But those were prepped very well.

There are many older homes around downtown with wood subfloors, most have crawl spaces and some with basements. Most of the older ones with a crawl space are nailed directly to the joists with dirt a couple feet from the hardwood floor. No problems and some are 100 yrs old. Then you get your homes built on the sides of hills that are newer in the foothills that have partial wood subfloors with plywood subfloors. And then the two story track homes with 2" OSB.
