Since my actual "work" came to a near stop, Doing house measures kept me in decent shape. Because of the way I do my drawings, I'd be constantly walking multiple times to each room an the length and width of the house. It's a lot more physical than one would think. I'd be there for at least an hour, sometimes two if it was a more complex one. When I'm sitting and not moving I get out of condition pretty quick. This big job I'm finishing up had me worried that it was more than I could take on. Thankfully the rooms became finished one at a time, so as I finished one, the next was ready. My only salvation is working 4 1/2 to an occasional 6. Hour days. The less I move... the less I can move.

Had one of the busiest years in 24, but now it’s a screeching halt. So I’ve been sitting around, but I’m taking up old today and my thighs feel like jelly with no strength and the cardio is poor 😳 …. I need some sort of daily exercise routine to keep me at a baseline of physicality, but who wants to do that, when you’re in constant pain 😢

I'm still on the Metformin but only taking 1000mg 1x per day instead of 2x per day. I tried Ozempic but didn't like it. itching at injection site and I hate needles. Just can't bring myself to give myself the shots anymore.

I did discover that I'm actually allergic to one of the meds that was prescribed to me most recently. My face had been getting red and itchy and I'd been getting itchy skin and other stuff. But the pharmacy only had me down for allergy to sulfa antibiotics and not all sulfa drugs so it didn't get flagged. I stopped taking it. I'm going to try cutting back on sugars and carbs if I can and exercising more. Sure that won't help with insulin resistance though. My pancreas seems to be fine but the insulin resistance sucks.

I got some thingamajig from Amazon that came in a case and can jump start AND inflate tires. Thus far I haven't had to use the jumpstart part but I've used the tire inflator quite a bit. Got my friend one too and he has used the jump start on his own vehicle as well as other people's to help them out. I keep seeing ads for an inflator called Airmoto but don't know if its any good. Mine lets you set the desired pressure and it will automatically stop inflating when it reaches it.

Rusty, have you tried gabapentin? Or Dilantin? My dad was given the former for restless leg syndrome. Mom takes the latter for polyneuropathy. She'll be 75 in April but she can barely walk across the house without having to sit and rest.

Got hit with massive fatigue yesterday and couldn't stay awake for more than 2hrs at a time. Today I went to Walmart to stock up on some supplies and pickup RX. My atorvastatin already went up by $10 so it's over $40 now. I talked to the pharmacy to discontinue refills of Glimepiride since it's a sulfa drug and I'm allergic. I mentioned earlier about the side effects. I didn't lose any weight on Ozempic but I didn't take it very long. I need to get better eating habits.

Had to change Mom's insulin cartridge early this morning. As much of a pain as it is to deal with the infusion stuff, it is so much better having her blood sugar more under control and having a machine that will make sounds when her sugar is too high or too low. She's good about charging it but she needs to be better about telling me the alerts it gives-- like if it says its time to change the cannula. She often waits to tell me when she needs a cartridge change or needs her cgm sensor changed.

Had a Stanley 35’ tape. It never retracted properly from day one so obviously I never really liked it as much as I could or should have. I finally had it with that POS tape the other day so I ripped the tape portion out of it and crumpled it up before I threw it across the shop. Now I’m back to my old 30’ Stanley. The tip was bent which is why I bought the 35 footer in the first place.

So anyway, I had to recalibrate my old, which is now my new, again, tape measure. Between a vice, to flatten and adjust the tip, and a carpenter square, I think I got it dialed in. Put the tape on the square and compare its measurements to that of the square. I had to go back n forth a couple times flattening and adjusting the nose piece but I think I got it👍

Just think, if I had done this a few years ago i coulda saved myself from buying a POS 35’ tape.

That was then, this is now. It’s almost 4 PM and my job for this evening is to place a couple swag hooks in the ceiling so I can hang a pool table light before the table itself shows up. Got my centerline and center point marked. Now I need to know the spacing on the chains for the light so I can match the spacing on the ceiling. Gotta have your chains hanging straight dontcha know. I don’t know the spacing yet so it looks like I’m at a standstill until the wife gets home with some tacos😁

I found a Milwaukee Brand 25' tape on my walk last week. (There is a Home Depot up the street and find lots of stuff that has fallen off of trucks).
I really like this tape and better than the other 4 I have, but there is a nick on the tape, so hopefully I can buy a refill for it.

That nick will eventually become a weak point and the tape will tear at that point. I’ve put scotch tape around the tape at that point to keep it from stressing and worsening. I also learned a tip from YouTube? take some scissors or snips and cut a V right at the nick. I’ve tried it and it works but I still wrap some clear scotch tape around the tape at that point just to prolong its life.

You wouldn’t believe how many cuts I’ve gotten from nicks on a tape that is retracting. Had a couple ends pop off when the tape is retracting full force and comes to a stop. My cuts come from trying to prevent the tape from retracting full speed and slamming into the tape measure itself. A nick in the tape almost guaranteed a cut on my finger. I’d put $5 that that nick is why that tape measure you found got tossed in the first place. Somebody got cut and that tape got chucked because of it. Done it before myself.

Ibuprofen became my friend about 15 years ago and helps a lot. Two in the morning with my yogurt, coffee and cereal is it... no more till the next morning. I'm not taking any more than that.
When I haven't been working for a while, getting done on my knees, squatting down, standing up dozens of times per day gets to me. My back has it aches, my knees and hands feel "puffy". Had I been working continuously I think it wouldn't bother me much, but after doing this daily and then having very long periods between work it's very noticeable.
With my half days for the past 5 weeks 🫣 my knees haven't loosened up like they did years back. They feel a little tight and puffy. That's why I limiting my hours. By body tells me to.
Knowing this job was going to be a long one and working solo, I was very concerned about being able to complete it.
If I'm really lucky, two more days. With Friday for the deadline, the drywall guy,the painter and plumber will be there . I asked the contractor to get them in an out of "my room"
I can't do much with others intruding into "my room"

How I the hell do you make a tape measure last 15 years? Crap, the paint's worn off the underside.
Get a brand new one, extend the tape 6', set it on the floor then STEP on it.
Every pro knows that you're supposed to do that on day one...... Gotta break em in.
