Windows 10 and Avast

Nick my laptop, which I don't use much produced this Critical Error and the start menu don't go so I googled it and some say Avast is causing problems. Windows 10 has been on this laptop for several months with no problem
You cant go anywhere as you cant get the start button to work

See if you can boot into safe mode Jon by taping the F8 key at boot .

Delete Avast , and put Bit Defender free on. Let me know how you make out.

Take it out through Revo uninstaller .

The trouble is that the big sign of the Critical Error covers over everything so one can't see what puter wants you to do like clicking an Okay as its behind the Critical sign
I did make a New Folder which you can open from Task Manager which gives you things like This PC
If one clicks Umistall Avast a square comes up saying Progams and Features but you cant see the rest of it
I will have a play maybe with a hammer as this laptop battery is had it
I was kinda wondering if you had heard of this problem and also as it could be a warning for others here if they have Avast and Windows 10 but its strange as it only happened last night
As I mentioned I hardly ever use this lap top so it might have added an update

Nick it just did an update and it seems to be fixed
I managed to turn off Avast and its still turned off
Don't know if that fixed it either???
You reckon get rid of Avast as it now seems okay?

I would Jon. It has become a resource hog lately .

I been running bit defender with no problems .
