We have a flock that goes through our subdivision on a regular basis also, plus an occasional deer.

We live in a town of 8,000. I have seen deer, turkeys and even a mountain lion in town.
Strange tho. I never saw any while growing up here. First time I saw any was 35 years ago, 45 miles from town on one of my photo excursions. Even then I thought it was odd because this was still in the coastal range.
I figured turkeys were all inland, 80+ miles away.
Nope, all over. Even a pair 500 feet from my place and on occasion on the gravel road by my place. Climate change must make them more social
Probably 30 years ago turkeys were scarce here and you couldn't hunt them or mess with them. A guy outside of town had one take a liking to his place, yard, deck, garage what have you, very territorial. He called the DNR and they told him don't do anything to that turkey. So he called the police and they sent out a deputy who emptied his revolver and then his shot gun at the turkey before killing it. When asked about why so much lead was shot at it before killing it the officer said "turkeys are hard to kill."
This was my grandfather's backyard in Aliquippa. One of the best fights I ever saw in my life was when two Tom's with their hens had it out over the territory of the bird feeder. They went so crazy at each other they wound up rolling down the hillside and the fight continued on and on til I couldn't see them anymore

I wasn't there for that photo. My uncle or grandfather probably took it, but I can tell you from this photo those are brother Toms controlling a single flock. The fight I witnessed the two Toms came from different sides of the property each with their own flocks of hens slightly trailing. It was funny that whilst the two Toms went wild fighting the two "opposing" flocks------hens with their offspring----just sauntered up the the feed as if nothing was happening. They were so disinterested in the commotion is was remarkable. Just another day at the office I guess? Absolutely no friction with the females and youngsters. They just ate and cooled out.

A water beetle larva...
They come out of the water and dig themselves in while they change to an adult beetle. Then they go back to the water. They eat mosquitos! For scale this guy is about 2.5" - 3" in length.

Tree Swallow...
Was crazy hot & humid in the marsh yesterday. I was taking a break on a nearby bench drinking some Gatorade and this little tree swallow came down to check me out!

Yellow Warbler
CFR I enjoy your bird pictures. I sit out on my deck or the chair i have by my garden and just enjoy listening to the birds and watching them. There are a couple of home sparrows, the one that are partially red and have a beautiful song but haven't been able to get pictures of them.
Thanks Daris! Song Sparrows are one of my favorite birds. They are all over the marsh that I go to.

Daris, this is a Field Sparrow. Notice the difference in the beak color and the coloration of the area around the eye. Very similar to the Song Sparrow but slightly different. Beautiful nonetheless!
