Replacing laminate flooring that is on top of asbestos flooring

If in doubt about the fibers getting airbourne Spray it with water as you take up the laminate. Just don't sand it or abraide it. Each statee is different but here in Michigan I can remove asbestos flooring as long as I stick to the parameters of the state.

    Discussing politics and religion

You don't get it, Mother Nature is Mother Nature as she is female. Females do what they want to do when they want to do it. You don't guide them or tell them what to do.

    Discussing politics and religion

The earth and the weather are going to do what they have done for millions and millions of years. We can't stop mother nature.

Putting VCT Tile over a nonvirgin subfloor.

When there is a problem-who gets blamed? "THE INSTALLER" as he is the professional and should know better.

    Koolglide questions.

On thicker carpet you do have to push down with the KG. H would have been fine or the M setting. When having carpet like that do a couple practice seams to find out which you like. The T mode means Turn mode which you turn the tool sideways like at the end of the seam near a door casing when you...

Citristrip maybe another problem as it is used to remove glue. It may have soaked into the wood and can be a bond breaker for any new ahesive put down. I think 1/4 inch plywood is still your best bet also less labor intensive.

    Hammer tacker/stapler

Used to be a formula for how far you had to feather out depending on the thickness of the ramp. Can't remember it though.

    Hammer tacker/stapler

Back when when all commercial jobs were stretch in with hair or fiber pad we used to take gallon buckets of multi purpose and tip them upside down and slide them around the perimeter and seams,. It left a fine film the width of the top of the bucket. Then when done tip the bucket up and pick up...

Have any of your ancestors owned slaves?

Its amazing how the hatred of the civil war has been passed on. I was stationed in Pensacola from Jan 1963 to Sept 1966 and the southern guys always referred to us from the north as Yankees. My daughter moved to the Alabama coast and she was a damned Yankee in the 90's. When in Pensacola I was...

    What did you do today?

The stinger has kind of taken over the industry even though it is not recomended. If you got carpet that is 20 years old its should be time to replace it.

    Thought of the day .

Flying was part of my job when in Naval air. Besides i had to get 4 hrs flight time to get my flight[hazard duty] pay. $75 a month back in 1962-66 was big money to me.

Oh I had many more after and before that. Dead engines, wheels not indicated down and locked[that was the scariest] no brakes on landing, etc all the fun stuff.

Cushion Back Glueing Technique? (and other wierd things)

Years ago we used to cut the cushion off of the backing enough to insert seam tape and make the seam with the iron. Tedious job. Now you gluing the tape to the floor might create another problem as there is silicone in the paper of the tape and it will release causing a popping sound when...
