On March 8, 2019, Manning was held in contempt of court by a United States District Court judge and jailed in
Alexandria, Virginia for refusing to testify to a grand jury investigating WikiLeaks. Manning said she refuses to testify because she objects to the secrecy of the grand jury process, and already revealed everything she knows at her court martial. The judge ordered her to remain in jail until Manning testifies or until the grand jury concludes its work.
