It was the update that did it .

https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninstall-and-block-updates-and-drivers-on-windows-10/

It was a common issue with 8.1 , guess they wanted to put that script in 10

Best method to clear event viewer logs? I have a hundred twenty thousand I don't need.

....in the mean time, I uninstalled the three updates from the 28th. I hope anyway. After clicking shut down and restart, the computer says its 30% completed "working on updates" Hope this works.

Well, I supposedly deleted the updates, but nothing has changed.
Once I discovered my left click was not working just as before I deleted those updates. I checked the errors in event viewer and it was 29,192. I rebooted the confuzer again. By simply restarting the confuzer the errors now number 32,977............. about 3000 of those same two errors from shut down to restart........ about a 2 minute span. :machine gun:

If I go to Settings> update and security> Recovery> I have two choices.
Keep my files or Remove everything.
Remove everything says it removes all of my personal files, apps and settings.
What is included in "my "personal files and apps"? Does this mean the Avast, Superantispyware, Hijack this. REVO etc?
I haven't added much of anything to the confuzer except these kind of programs, so if they are only describing file folders that I added, there is nothing to save.

Some factory resets remove everything, others save stuff and in doing so save the malware.
Myself I would copy the data off the device and I would then do a clean install following this tutorial.
Clean Install Windows 10
Once you are back up scan your data with malwarebytes. Copy it back to system.

What data? I don't use this confuzer ......yet. All I have done is installed AVAST and other programs so I can actually use the computer now and then. I can re-do all that AV stuff from scratch.

Don't forget to hide updates Hi. It will just put that same one back on..
I haven't used the confuzer since these errors came up. I gots better things to do ....like work. ;)
Will it automatically install updates when I restart the confuser............ that is, if I start with a total re-installation?
Will it install McAfee again too?

Talked to a fella at the store I bought it from and he said there's 2 restorations. Total and "save your files" Total takes about 4 hours and the "light" (save your files) version takes about one hour.
I have no files to speak of. I'm gonna do the complete version. I wonder if a renewal will start my warranty all over again too. :D
One thing I discovered about this notebook/laptop is how tiny the hard drive is. It's 30 GB and 20gb is sucked up by windows 10 and misc crap that I'll never use. Unbelievable.

I'm setting up a new win 10 confuser for my sister inlaw .

Had to download all the updates first . almost 2 gigs .

Had to sync all the software to make it work. I do have the option to use Imap 4, or a POP 3 acct for e mail though . G mail wants a code

Pain in the arse !!

That is why I have been looking. Some places like Amazon and walmart have a few leftover new computers with W 7 and W 8.1.
Daris had the right idea going with a Mac.

Look on Amazon Floorist . I found a lot of win 7 on there , But my sister inlaw couldn't wait .

Is it possible to install a W7 disk so it could be installed on a new hard drive?
I thought I read they couldn't legally sell em unless they were either on a computer, or installed on a hard drive by a computer repair place......... or maybe that a computer repair place could only use them for fixing computers that already had W7 originally installed on that computer.
What's the real scoop on obtaining a legal copy and installing it on a computer?

You would have to make sure you get a legit copy of 7, and do a clean install.

The re-installation finally loaded up about 5:30 tonight. It went through the usual questions, name, location etc. I clicked "next" and the next item on the install was user name and password. I clicked on the user name dialogue box and it wouldn't open.
.....I figured after 5 minutes of waiting and I still couldn't click on it to type in anything that possibly it remembered my old user name, so I clicked "next"
Nothing happened. I waited another 10 minutes and still it wasn't clickable. The screen was frozen. Wow, the computer has a fresh install and it freezes up before I even get it ready to use. :machine gun:
I held down the power button and shut it down.
I restarted the confuser and it took of where it froze before. It finished the process and all is well. So now I got a refreshed confuzer. I wonder how long it will take for major issues to annoy me once more.

Thanks Nick. Much appreciated tonight.
