Isn't the Big Mac recognised as the benchmark worldwide to compare prices to?
All we have to do is buy a Big Mac and then convert how many sq. yards/metres we can buy for 1 sq yard of floor laying

Excellent, thank you

So if I have this right most installers get paid $30 per Lm so if there is approx 2.4 yards in 2.0m2 that makes it $12.5NZ a yard. Now dont tell Jon this as he hasnt raised his prices in decades and will probably not beleive me;)

That sounds about right.
I know around here (Manawatu/Horowhenua/Kapiti) contractors get paid:
$30 a metre for 2m wide
$45 a metre for 3m wide
4 metre wide should be avoided at all costs - too hard to handle LOL

Some installers will charge a little more for 2m wide commercial vinyl, maybe $32.50 - $35

Talking to a couple of layers today and they can't believe the prices I am getting. Some are getting a lot less. $4 per sq m for carpet tiles

I think $6 is close..... maybe $7 at Carpet One.
I'm not doing work through the shops, so I start at $9 or by the hour, or use a combo of both depending on the job layout and just give the customer a total price.

Talked to a contractor this morning and he is gettting $13 - $15m2 for carpet tile and hes putting down a 300m2 job next week he says its all in how you sell it, he tells them you get what you pay for. Well done I say
