Moon peaking through trees.
There's a new ship in port ready to load logs. I googled the ship name and found that it's a brand new one, born in January. I took the photo with my el-cheapo flip phone through some $29 pawn shop Nikon binoculars.
Hi, I could really get into that hobby. Huge ships are amazing.
The ships that come in here for logs and wood chips are usually 175 to 200 meters.... around about 600 feet. Log ships are usually the shorter of the two types. When I was about 14, I went with a neighbors family down to a ship for dinner. My neighbor was doing some gardening in the front yard. The captain of the ship was walking around town and stopped to chat with her. He asked if she would like to bring the family on board for dinner............ I of course was "family" enough. I would rather have gotten a tour of the ship than have dinner............ the food was green, slimy and hot hot hot. It was a Korean ship loading finished lumber.

Look at the date of your comment.......... Tonight, three of the ships cranes are in the lowed and stowed position and the 4th is still ready for the last load of logs. I bet it leaves tomorrow for wherever..... Probably China.
Stopped and watched some locals on the way to work yesterday. They're Roosevelt Elk.
I scanned a photo from about this same time of year at Watson Falls..... about 60 miles from here. It's a tiny creek 10 feet below road level where it enters a large culvert. The images were taken from the same location, but the second image was taken from an angle 10 feet higher than the first one.
Amazing what a bit of rain can do. I drove by this place a lot of times over the years and one day I finally decided to stop and take a few photos......... glad that I did.

Here's a Lupine struggling in the coastal sand dunes after a heavy rainfall. It's roots are holding the sand in place.

I've been messin' / tweakin' with my recent waterfall photos and man is it a pain deciding the best post-scan corrections so the images all look the same..... Meaning color contrast and brightness. You digital guys have it easy.

I'll have to look up the date on this one....... '94 to '98 because the truck isn't rusty yet.
This is at the trail head leading up to the Hippy on the Rock image. Had to be December to March, as the elevation here is 3200' or thereabouts. Not all that high, but if it snows, these logging roads on the north side of the hills rarely clear even with a few weeks of nice weather. I always felt lucky if I could make it up this high when I ventured into the hills in the winter.
The location is 65/70 miles from home. 60 miles this direction is still below 700 feet elevation, so I never knew until I drove up this way what was going to limit my travels in a particular weekend. I miss those old weekend ventures.

One man has been working on it at least 20 years. It is right in the middle of Ft. Scott, Kansas.
