It is. Grandpa took a lot of family photos over the years and I have them now. I wish there were more from that trip of the river scenes. In the top photo, that freshly logged side is right above the city of Gold Beach. By now, the trees on that hill are probably 60 feet tall.

In the summer, you can feel a temperature change of 10 or more degrees by just driving a few miles up the river from the town. The small community of Agness is about 35 miles from the coast and that's where we took our boat ride.

Our local theater, the one I was mesmerized by as a little kid, was going to be demoed because of a new owner and the cost of the buildings structural repairs. There's only a few "Egyptian" theaters still in existence.

One of the special features of the place isn't used as often as it was in the roaring 20's and 30's.
This theater had one of the few Wurlitzer pipe organs.......... more than just an ordinary pipe organ. Back in 1925, it cost $35,000.
Nowadays it gets used at special occasions, like at Christmas time to listen to free music.... but they do like donations.
I can only imagine watching a silent-era Dracula movie with this big old monster of an organ creeping the daylights of of ya.

Neat when that old stuff can keep on ticking instead of getting 'recycled' into a Subway or Starbucks.
On some Saturdays, we could take two Williams bread wrappers and 50 cents to see a double feature like Jason and the Argonauts and Hercules.

This one was bought by out-of-towners who never came back. The city had to wait until it was three years behind on taxes to buy it. Then in Missouri, when you buy a property for back taxes, you have to wait a year to do anything with it. So four years plus of it raining in, is too much.

That's a neat park. I haven't walked in our local park in probably 20 years. It's just a pond with some ducks and geese and not much larger that a high school track.

Over on the right side of that picture where the bush is now, was a mineral spring in the 1800s. People came from all over the world to bathe in the healing waters. Some idiot decided to blast and make it bigger, but it stopped the flow of water. The horse-drawn streetcars took tourists out there. A "Dr" Weltmer opened a clinic of magnetic healing for a few years.
