Repairing an old Solarian Supreme floor

In the lower image you can see double faced tape. on the base piece. If the base moves even slightly, the hole comes out poorly shaped.
I found that heating the floor surface was the trick needed so that the cuter cuts smoothly in the heavy material.

I have one and I use it.......... I have a hair dryer in the van, and no wifey. Hot air guns have a metal nose which can cause disaster if it flops over after you set it down. Plastic hair dryers don't scorch or burn stuff if they get knocked over. There are uses for hot air guns, but I don't need them much for my work........ lots of heat but low air flow volume compared to a hair dryer.

Designer Solarian is ever so slightly harder to cut than pie dough.
I wish I had a shop and some machine tools to make one completely from scratch.... something adjustable, say from 1" to 2", in aircraft aluminum and plated in black chrome.
