I think the main problem is that the repair flange wasn't secured with screws so it could have moved. I also found out that the mini repair kit I got that the clerk at the hardware store said to put on top of the flange, actually fits under the flange. I still have the decking screws I just bought to secure it if I need to screw it in place once it is set in. So, I might try that when I pull the toilet again. It will mean the toilet will sit at the same height again. I still want to use some scrap sheet vinyl underneath the toilet around the flange and maybe put a bead of caulk around it to keep water from going under the sheet vinyl bc otherwise the water just soaks in to the OSB. With the sheet vinyl in place, if there are leaks, it will be easier to see on top of it- and it will protect the floor a bit more.
On a side note, I saw that Charlotte brand has made some new PVC fittings called Connectite that work sort of like sharkbite fittings, only they are for DWV instead of water supply. They look tempting, but I don't know how sturdy they are. They advertise that they are adjustable and re-usable. They have closet flanges, sanitary tees, straight connectors, 45s, and long sweep 90s. They only have a few sizes thus far and don't seem to have any wyes or cleanouts yet. I think I could use the 45s under two of the bathroom sinks, although since the lower half of the drain pipe going through the bottom of the vanity is chrome plated, I might need a fernco fitting to bridge the PVC to it. They both have S-traps so I would need to run the trap arm back farther for AAVs and then use the 45s to get back to the drain in the floor. Gonna be "fun" cutting through the chrome-plated stuff. I also need to figure out if it is 1-1/4" or 1-1/2".
Took Mom to her doctor's appointment. He wrapped her knee in an ace bandage to see if it would help with the pain. Problem is, her leg above the knee has too much fat to fit in a knee brace that expands to 22", but her lower leg is closer to normal size. If compression works, it won't be easy to find a compression brace thing that will fit her easily. Her blood sugar was a little high but her A1c, cholesterol, and other bloodwork was all good. The doctor said she should eat more fiber and fewer carbs. She lost a little weight-- I think she was 236lbs. I'm catching up to her and am about 228lbs. I really really need to lose at least some of the fat on my gut bc it makes it harder for me to breathe when I bend to pick stuff up & I can't get my new waist pouch to fit comfortably-- just a little too tight at max extension.
I'm trying to get her to try the plain mashed cauliflower stuff. My brother loved the stuff with chives and sour cream and liked it with garlic. I found more steamer bowls for her- she tried pineapple chicken this time but didn't like it. It's the only one she's tried thus far that has been a "No". Even the dog wouldn't eat it and he normally wants all of her table scraps.
I actually remembered to take my medicine today and I will have to pick up a refill on my cholesterol meds tomorrow. I need to start getting up at a regular time and also get my mother up and help her with some exercises the doctor recommended for her knees. I also need to see about both of us eating smaller meals throughout the day.
I really should be sleeping right now. LOL.
