Well I’m gonna see it no matter what but I was kinda thinkin that staying with the same tile would not draw your eye to it as much as a separate color would. Maybe I’ll just set some glass marbles in the thin set. Why not.

I saw Z’s pics for how to deal with it. I thought about that but didn’t think I’d like it but seeing those pics make me think that’s the way to handle it.

You very well may be right, the pattern is busy and colorful. Maybe just run them into each other and call it a day.
The more I think about it, the more I think that something obvious is, well, obvious. Laid down, eventually you would stop noticing.

See, I was thinkin that as well. If it’s all the same tile it will eventually quit tripping you as you walk through the door if it all blends. I’ve got tonight to think on it. I’ll set it tomorrow and grout it Sunday. Move furniture in there after that then my work is done. I’ll break it under the door that way if I ever decide to demo the tile in the room I don’t have to mess with the hallway at all.

Yeah man, you got it.
I was all over a header... but then instead of spending time with my wife and kids, i was thinking about this and the more I think about it the more I realize that I was wrong to think like that.

Workin on my own place today. We’re turning an office into a bedroom. This door wasn’t here before but now it is. The tile pattern doesn’t line up from the bedroom to the hallway so now I’ve got to find a way to make it not look stupid. I have enough extra tile to fill in but wondering how to deal with the mismatch at the doorway. I thought about putting a 1.5” header piece under the door to transition the two rooms together. Thoughts?

Maybe make the header piece the width of the entire door casing so it looks more like a threshold kind of thingy. I'm thinking of maybe doing it in a bunch of small pieces, like 2-in by 2 in pieces if you can find something that comes close to matching or contrasting nicely.
....... Or just do it like the professionals do and leave a 4 inch gap and just grout it all the way across between the two rooms. A 4-in width of grout would look...
...
...custom. 😁

Along the lines of thinking I'm glad Zan showed those pictures. I'm thinking something like the last one she showed with those small squares. Trick would be finding a color that matched or contrasted nicely.
In case the tiles between those two rooms aren't perfectly aligned thickness or height wise, those little tiles might make something possible that wouldn't be possible if you just butted those two sides together

I got a younger kid I’m workin with a little here n there and I’m tryin to pass on some knowledge to him before he’s old n broken. One of the things I tell him is sometimes you just gotta let work go and enjoy your wife n kids. Good on you for already knowing that M.B.

All the local places crying because they are losing sales. I went to the only lumberyard we have. After 4 trips up and down the plumbing aisles, I see a worker. I asked him what aisle is the plumbing stuff on for automatic washers? He says, "maybe later". So I left. I wanted a set of faucets and a drain hose for a washer. I go to a bigger town Thursday for more blood. I will buy the stuff there. Bought the washer and dryer at another town. Locals did not wait to wait on us and wanted a $50 delivery fee. The place where we bought it, they drove 45 miles, delivered and installed free and they were $200. cheaper.

I tried to explain that to the manager of the supply shop I worked at for a couple months. You gotta have the product in stock so people can buy it when they want it. If you have to have it ordered, why don’t they just order it themselves and save whatever bump that the shop adds on to the order. And then it’s delivered to your house so now you’re saving on a return trip to pick up whatever they ordered for you. It’s not rocket science, it’s business and if you want people to spend money at your business you should prolly make it easy for them to spend money. Amazon sure as hell is easy!

One of the local hardware stores here has very rude employees and they are supposed to close at 4:30 but they often lock the doors at 4. Very condescending and take a long time. The other hardware store has very nice people. They are always willing to help you, will give advice on how to do things, ask how you're doing, and are generally very friendly. They will even give discounts on things sometimes. Friend was buying some electrical cable and was going to leave them with a tiny amount that they'd probably never sell if they cut it to size. He said he'd take the whole thing off their hands so they discounted it. Also gave him some roof trim for free bc it was in their scrap pile.

CJ, how much tile do you have leftover? Maybe you could cut some rectangular pieces the width of the doorway and lay them out next to the other tiles to see how it looks? You could also cut up the tiles into smaller squares (I know that would be a pain) and see how it would look to do that pattern. You could try all sorts of different patterns with the same tile depending on how much cutting you're willing to do-- but rectangular strips might be easiest. Some of the pictures I posted look like the tile was about the same color on at least one side. Then the tile would be the same thickness as the other tile so it would not be a tripping hazard.

Went to Sams to get water and some groceries. Popped in to see my friend. The kitten over there needs to go back to the vet. I brought him back inside (he was on the porch) and when my friend wasn't looking, I watched his girlfriend literally kick the kitten and shove him outside. He told me she knows she's not supposed to put that one out, but she's a b****.

I'm a bit miffed because he let the guy who does yardwork for him use my tools & he broke a rake I just bought. He had to have been really mishandling it to break it. We were all marveling at how he must have abused it to break it like that. Now I need to get a new one. Should make that guy pay for it though. I'm gonna have to take all my yard tools home so that guy can't touch them anymore.

I'm about to go pick my friend up so he can come out here and help me identify cables in my well shed and help with some stuff.
