@highup, did you ever see my response about the SIM card? I wasn't sure if you missed it or not. If you missed it: SiIM card is only for connecting to the network and does not store data. SD card stores data but your phone does not have an SD card slot. Your options for backing up your phone include connecting a cable to a laptop, computer, or other device and transferring the data or using NFC (near field communication) to send the data to another compatible device. Replacing a SIM card does not erase your text messages and data.

Last night before I went to bed I saw my cat Rupert across the hall on a cat tree. I wanted snuggles so I called to him. He kept looking at me and then the floor trying to decide how to get to me. I then said "Do you want me to come get you?" and he meowed 3 times. He very rarely meows. I walked over and he tried to leap into my arms but fell short so I had to catch him and then he clung to my shoulder for dear life.

I got up at 5:30am so I could pick my friend up by 6 to have him at his appointment at 7. They took him in around 7:15 and were done by 8am. They put him under, did the surgery, put his new dentures in, woke him up, and helped him out to my truck. They have a patient loading bay. They didn't numb him so he was starting to feel pain. Took him straight to the pharmacy but it didn't open until 9. Then another 10 to 15min wait for them to fill the RX. Pain got really bad before he got home and got even worse after he had to swallow the pills. I got him some ice packs and salt (instructions said to put ice packs on his cheeks and soak his mouth in warm saltwater. He didn't have any plain salt and I found some for under $1. The ice packs weren't cold yet so he grabbed some frozen fruit out of the freezer and held the bag to his face. I was staying with him to make sure he was ok but his mother showed up. She was laughing and thinking it was funny that he was using frozen fruit. I'm certain she's angling for $ from him. He let me know I didn't need to stay. I told him to message me if he needs anything.

While I was trying to find something for him the husband of the lady who wanted to adopt the dogs called. They've decided to take them. Just want heartworm test first and they will pick them up Saturday. She wanted them to get flea baths and Nexguard but local groomer doesn't do flea baths and vet doesn't have Nexguard. The husband said not to worry about it. Only thing he wants me to take care of is the heartworm thing and maybe digestive tract parasites. I'm really hoping they have no heartworms. Only dogs of mine who ever got them already had them when we rescued the dogs. Vet's office clerk said no point in testing for the other worms- they just deworm instead.

Rupert just realized I'm home so he climbed on me. Clinging to my shoulder and purring his head off.

There was minimal instructions that came with the sim card.
The instructions don't do as they say here.

It goes straight to a phone setup instead of asking be for the last 4 digits of the sim card as mentioned. Nobody at Walmart even knew about Verizon buying straight talk and track phone.
Not their fault, corporate should have told them.

My stomach hates me today. I've had to go to the bathroom about 10x already. Ugh. I had to go twice when I was in Walmart. I gave the puppies their flea meds and some dramamine for the car trip. The guy adopting them thought the vet was going to administer the flea pills. I put all of the stuff in some cheese and the dogs ate it just fine. I brought along some of their toys and their rabies tags. As soon as they saw the guy roll up they started wagging their tails and getting excited. They really adore him. The feeling is mutual. I didn't have a prolonged goodbye. Didn't want to get emotional and upset them-- plus my stomach felt awful. Peanutbutter was looking at me as they drove off. He promised to send pics and updates. Should be getting home with them soon. They will get flea baths and get introduced to their new home. Then he'll bring in a trainer to help introduce them to the dogs already in the home.

Went into the Walmart (we met at a Walmart parking lot) and grabbed some fresh fruit. My brother came with me because he was ecstatic to see the puppies go. They were pissing him off. But he admitted he does like them and was glad they have a good home. Guy gave me some cash for gas. I didn't look to see how much yet.

I'm taking it easy now and waiting for my guts to calm down.

I'm not worrying about what the SIM card is storing, other than my phone number.
My current carrier is AT&T
Verizon bought out Straight, TracFone and who knows what else.
I have to install the new SIM card that they sent me which in theory would be a Verizon or a new version of Straight talk as my carrier.
Anyhow, they told me I need to install the new SIM card but they don't give me the correct instructions to do so.
The instructions I showed are the only thing they gave me and I am not prompted to put in the last four digits of the new SIM card like it mentions.
Instead, it goes straight to a procedure as if you were setting up a new phone and asks you if you want to keep your old number.
I pressed one for yes and then it starts asking other questions, one of which is:
Would I like a new carrier.
I'm guessing that might be what I want but when I check that box it lists Straight talk T-Mobile Walmart family and a handful of others but the list doesn't include Verizon.
I'm already on Straight talk so am I supposed to say I want to switch from Straight talk to Straight talk?
I tried going through the menu and none of my questions were answered in preprogrammed list.
I finally got a hold of a human from India. She said that she couldn't answer my question but she could connect me to tech. 1 minute later I was connected to tech but I had options to wait or to be called back.
Wait I decided to wait on hold.
30 seconds later the call disconnected.
I went through that routine a second time 10 minutes later and I selected to get a call back. 10 seconds later the call was disconnected and I never got a call back.
Yesterday my phone was acting really screwy and I know they're messing with it because I haven't put in the new SIM card.

Highup, my friend had a similar experience. He could not get a live person to help him. Sometimes you have to call them and get them to register the phone. Might as well try straight talk as an option and see if it works. If it doesn't maybe it can be reset. Although, my friend had to change numbers every time he changed phones or sim-cards. Worked in his benefit bc it caused some mooches to no longer have his number. He never gave his grandfather any of his new phone numbers bc his grandfather likes to call over 100x a day. He still rolls by his house 3 to 20 times per day. If he thinks my friend is home he lays on the horn- doesn't matter if its 3pm or 3am.

My guts really really hate me today. Pepto hasn't been working much. Got some minor bleeding bc of it and it sucks. I've been lying as still as possible the past few hours and trying not to jostle my guts any. Not looking forward to going to the bathroom again. Cat is pawing at my face trying to get to get up. I'm going to have to cook for mom in the near future and not looking forward to that.

Hoping the last dose of pepto will help. Not sure what got my guts all in a funk.

The wife of the guy who picked up the dogs called me after I posted. She was so happy she started sobbing. The dogs apparently came over to comfort her. They have already bonded. They don't want treats but they want cuddles and hugs. Her other dogs love them and they are already starting to settle in. She said she's going to call tomorrow to update. I'm very glad they are going to get so much love. Her husband was ecstatic to take them and really loves them. So its a win win. Doggies have a new home, I don't have to keep my shoes in a plastic bin anymore, I can feed the cats when I want and not have to worry about pups eating it, etc.

Stomach still hates me but I'm feeling better.

Straight talk is a service of TracFone and Verizon bought TracFone, so that is who I'm dealing with now. They sent me the new SIM card.
The problem is that the instructions on that card do not work as stated and that I cannot get a hold of anybody to guide me through the process. That card says "ONESTEP"
So far I made it through four steps.
It's just frustrating that they make it so hard to get a hold of the human that can speak English fluently. My hearing isn't perfect and talking with someone with an accent does not help the conversation.
Having my call dropped two times before I even get to talk to someone with an accent is even more aggravating. I shouldn't have to spend hours on the phone getting nothing accomplished.
I install flooring and I have hundreds of people that know my phone number. No way can that change.

I already have purchased three additional phone cards through straight talk.
I made one phone call this morning, then later when I tried to use my phone I found that my service was cut off.
I use my brother's phone to contact the computer generated b******* at straight talk and they asked the phone number of the phone I wanted to talk about.
I gave them my phone number and they said the service was "not active"

Now, no matter which straight talk phone number I use I have no way of getting to a human because every phone number refers back to choices 1 through 5, none of which pertain to my issue.

Ugh. I'm sorry you're going through that, highup. My friend went through something similar trying to get his phone setup with a new simcard. Ended up giving up and changing carriers because he could't get 3 of them to work. Was out the $ bc they wouldn't let him return the simcards even though they didn't work. I *hate* that you can't speak to an actual human being on things. I couldn't get through to an actual human being on the phone with Amazon over something. Ended up using their live chat online and got it resolved. I let them know their phone system was automatically hanging up on people though.

Speaking of no human contact, my mother has been trying to contact OPM (office of personnel management) for over 6 months and every time she calls she gets a machine saying they are experiencing a high volume of calls, call back later, and hangs up. They were supposed to mail her something and they never did. She's unable to make it so her income no longer goes to Capitol One and the local branch closed so its difficult to deal with them now.

Does StraightTalk have an online chat? I have sometimes had to resort to using twitter and tagging the services to get a response, but that is not an option for everyone.

Stomach still hates me. Had to run to the bathroom 7x this morning. Mom told me I should go to the store and get medicine, but I'm not sure my guts will let me make it on that bumpy road.
I wonder if I should just go into the bathroom and do light aerobics to get everything in my gut tract to move down faster and get it over with. LOL.

At least I managed to feed the cats this morning-- although halfway through feeding I had to run to the bathroom. Which confused them greatly.

Glad the phone is working. I have never figured out how to use Voicemail. I never set it up and never got a pin but it wants a pin. Maybe someday I'll get it setup.

Tummy is still sour but not as bad as before. Only had to go to the bathroom 2 more times since last post. Might be on to number 3 soon. Ugh. Hoping Pepto will work enough for me to make it to the store to get stronger meds.

Friend sent me pic of himself at work with his dentures. He says he feels like a new man and is much more confident. I'm hoping he'll get enough of an ego boost to kick his abusive gf to the curb.

Discussing what he's going to do about the bottom teeth, maybe he can get some insurance that doesn't have a cap on how much they pay (all the dental plans I looked at had caps lower than what a person would pay in if they kept the plan long enough to get any coverage). Like, you pay in $1800 and they cover $900. Its ridiculous!

Dental in the South sucks! Insurance doesn’t cover much, if you’re lucky enough to even have it, which leaves money owing and a lot of people just don’t have it So they go without.

Dentures are funny to me cus I know a couple people with them and when they start drinkin the teeth come out. Cracks me up every time. Had a helper with a flipper tooth and he would take it out to eat. I’ve witnessed the tooth get lost, get thrown away and get thrown in a wood stove. Cost him $400 for a new tooth every time. I’m sure it’s more now.

Missing teeth are referred to as party teeth or summer teeth. Summer there, sum aren’t.
