Been pulling ticks off some of my cats. I hate ticks.

So, Mom came home but had to go back to the ER the very next morning. When they made her take a shower the 2nd time she complained that she felt like she accidentally pulled on the string for the stent and that it felt like it came out a little. She was just absolutely pouring out clear odorless urine (well, odorless at first-- after it sat awhile it wasn't). She started feeling cruddy- gassy & nauseous right before leaving after the paperwork was signed. She had mentioned it to the nurses but they didn't think anything of it. So they still released her. She started vomiting in the truck (into a bowl I brought along for that purpose just in case) but refused to go back to the hospital.

Got her home and she only got worse. She was still absolutely pouring urine out. Had no control of the flow. I had to run into the store to get night defense diapers and bed pads. Put down bed pads and got her into a diaper but she somehow shifted the pad out of the way and soaked the sheets. Diaper got stuck to her and then ended up tearing and exploding with the gel absorbent stuff going everywhere. I had to clean it all up, get her into a new diaper (after getting her to the toilet) and ultimately close to 5am she said she wanted to go back to the hospital. My brother got her to the truck in the wheelchair and then went back to bed. I took her to the ER nad was able to get her back into the wheelchair and into the ER. They took her in & BP was still way too high. Sugar was over 300. They treated her for those things and eventually treated her for nausea-- but not before they had her roll on her side to change the bedding she soaked & she simultaneously farted and vomited multiple times. Did some scans and found out the stent had dislodged. Around 8am they were able to reach her urologist who told them to pull her stent out. But the doctor there didn't feel comfortable doing that and wanted to transfer her to the urologist in Eunice (an hour away). The ambulance would take hours for approval so I said I'd drive her. Doctor said he still had urologist on the line and would ask him if that would be OK. Then nothing for 3 more hours. Turns out the urologist hung up. And for some reason all urologist offices in the ******* state close down at noon on Fridays. The local ER said urologist never called back and that they kept calling the hospital he worked at. By noon there was still no response. 1pm, 2pm, etc. I finally called the other hospital myself and was told best course of action would be to get her to their ER. I even went across the street to our GP but he was out for lunch. Left a message for him. After 3pm they *finally* decided to just transfer her over to the Eunice ER and let me drive her. I had to fill out all sorts of forms.

She was really unhappy, wanted to go home, and was hungry but they refused to feed her bc she'd been throwing up before she got the anti-nausea meds. That day I'd also promised my friend I'd go to the casino in Marksville to pick up some tool chests and lumber in my truck. It was the last day to be able to get it as the stuff was going to be thrown away if he didn't get it then. About $1k worth of stuff. Mom said she was ok with me dropping her off at the Eunice ER and driving there. So, I drove the hour to Eunice and got stuck behind every flaming moron possible. People who went 15mph under speed limit, people who didn't know how to stay in their own lanes. People who didn't know how to go when the light turned green, people who decided to get in the left lane to make right turns, etc. It was raining pretty hard too. I got her into the wheelchair and into the ER-- which was not easy. They didn't have ramps to get up the sidewalk near the handicap parking anywhere close to the building and the ER entrance is not ADA friendly. Outswing door that doesn't say open or soft close. It shuts fast. I was struggling to get the door to stay open for me to get her through. Someone inside finally held it open. I asked again if she was sure it was OK for me to go meet up with my friend and she said it was fine. Took over an hour +20min to get there bc that was the most convoluted hillbilly backroads ******** I've ever dealt with. GPS on phone and truck disagreed with each other and it took me out into cow & donkey land with streets that had no lines, no street lights, etc. Mom called when I was about 8min from my destination to say they told her she could be released. Friend sent me his location via FB messenger so I found him, he & a coworker loaded stuff up and I followed him back to his house (another hour+) and unloaded the stuff. I couldn't help bc it was too heavy. Called Mom to let her know I was getting gas and heading back out to get her.

Another hour approximately and I was back there and they told me which room she was in. Same room number as the other ER it just so happened. She was in a good mood. The male nurse was cracking jokes and had been very attentive. They'd given her food. She filled me in on what transpired: The doctor came in to pull the stent but didn't see the string to pull it out and assumed it had come out so he said she could go. She noticed she was still gushing urine so she checked, found the string, and pulled it out herself. No pain or bleeding. She showed the nurse when he came to check on her. He brought the doctor back in. Doctor asked how she found it, apologized, and said he should hire her to look for things. The profuse leaking finally stopped. Nurse had me help him change her to a clean diaper, he changed her into a fresh hospital gown, and helped her put on her jacket. I got her sleepers on her feet and he wheeled her to the exit door. I got her to the truck and got her in. While in the Eunice ER they fed her. When she'd been in a regular hospital room there they kept giving her apple juice so she was wanting me to stop at the store to get it. I stopped to get DQ for myself- smell made her gag briefly but she didn't throw up. She said it was mostly gas. The burger was microwaved so it wasn't the best. I popped in to the store and got no sugar added apple juice for her. Got her home and she was able to walk to the house and to her computer chair by herself. After about an hour she wanted to go to bed and was able to get to her room by herself and get into bed. She kept asking for apple juice. I wish I'd declined to get it bc I didn't realize how much sugar it can have. The power went out and she was miserable. Couldn't see, couldn't use her cpap, kept wanting apple juice. Was sweating profusely. She took off the gown bc she soaked it through. She stayed with her tits hanging out for a good couple of hours before asking me to get her a shirt and help her put it on. Power eventually came back on, she put her cpap on and went to sleep. By morning she was sweating again and not very lucid. I tried to use a blood sugar meter but it errored out and would not stop messing up. Tried to exchange it but had lost the lancet thingy so couldn't and ended up just buying a whole new kit. This one worked but only said Hi. I had to get my brother to come get the lancets to work. At first he whined but when he woke up more he realized how important it was. I couldn't get her to take her insulin. She was yelling at me and kept dropping her hands and half falling back asleep. Brother got her to take it and 15min later I had to run to the bathroom so he checked her sugar again. Still HI. Checked about 2hrs later and still Hi. I went to the store again to get zero sugar electrolyte water. When I got back my brother came in and checked her sugar again, still Hi. So he had her take insulin again. By that point we'd gotten her to get up and go to the living room bc she was lucid enough and I wanted her to get her legs moving. She had to pee and wouldn't let me check her sugar when I wanted to, but she eventually got up, went to the bathroom, and climbed into bed after. I checked sugar and it was down to 489. Got her to take insulin again and last check (~20min after insulin dose) was 382. She's had insulin 3x. No food except a celery stick. She did take her meds though. At least some of them. I'm hoping I can get her down to safe levels and not have to take her back to the hospital. Need to consult the doctor in the morning though. No more apple juice, I guess. Hopefully the electrolyte stuff with no sugar can help but I need to get some food into her.

Been absolutely exhausted, but at least I can now get blood from her myself. Still don't know how to draw her insulin. She knows how and has been able to the last 3x though. I'm letting her rest before I check again.

TL: DR? Medical nightmares for Mom & I'm exhausted.

The only nearby nursing homes absolutely suck. Black mold, nurses ignoring patients, etc. Got her sugar down to 205 now-- been checking every so often. She didn't want to take more insulin this time. If she goes to eat something she'll take insulin. She's lucid but tired and wants to sleep. Covid threw everything out of whack with her system and the kidney stone causing the UTI didn't help. The nurses here are not very professional and not well trained.

I'll be calling the doctor in the morning to ask to get her an appointment with the diabetes specialist asap and see if we can get her on the Dexcom G7 quickly. Hoping the pharmacist named Joe will be in on Monday so I can talk to him and see if he can help out any. He might know some of the info and he really cares about people and goes above and beyond to help.

I don't smoke or use any herbs. Last time I was around someone who was doing so it gave me a migraine. I have a weird reaction to things-- like no reaction to Vicodin and narcotics stuff. Bad reaction to Valium (makes me really agitated and jittery instead of relaxed). So, I don't want to know what other stuff would do. LOL. I'll stick to chocolate and listening to cats purring.

I was so stressed yesterday that I almost got into a fight with someone in a parking lot though. I go to back out and this dude parked to my left decides to run up to his passenger side and throw his door open so wide it almost hit my mirror. It was blocking me from backing up. I yelled at him to watch it and called him an *******. He laughed and climbed inside his truck digging for something. I was 2 seconds away from rolling my window down (since I couldn't open my door with his door in the way) and slamming his door on him. Then he got back out and shut the door, but he stood so close to my truck he would get hit by my mirror. I yelled at him to move the **** away from my truck so I could back out or I was about to punch him in the face. And I'm normally not that impatient or violence-inclined, but I seriously was ready to just hit him with my door, jump out, and start punching him.

Also, I got a blood pressure machine to test out on mom but it kept flashing error codes. I have no luck with equipment. LOL. My old one finally died. It lasted a good while at least. 15+ years.

As an aside, I remember that back in the 80s, the local hospital hired a man who claimed to be a doctor. They never checked his references and just accepted he was telling the truth. For years he was killing patients, injuring patients, and responsible for most of the medical malpractice. Really doing horrible. Now, I'd assumed that they finally caught wind something was wrong and they checked and found out he lied. However, when I mentioned it to Mom she said that the local hospital didn't catch it. He applied for a job at the VA hospital and they did the background check and found out he had flunked out of nursing school and never gone to medical school to be a doctor. And they didn't even fire him right away. I don't know how the hospital didn't get sued into the ground over that crap.

That’s a good plan ! My body reacts oddly to herbal medicine (THC ) also, so I stay away too.

You almost went all TT 😜 ( Tile Tom ) on that ignorant passerby, but I’m glad that was avoided. It’s all about E+ R = O …. Event + Response =‘s Outcome….. Easy to say but tricky to apply. First we need to connect with the concept, then like any new skill, go through the practice period.

Notice the word Response rather than React ? React is instant, and instinctual , very much needed back in the OLD Sabertooth Tiger 🐅 days, activating the ‘ fight / flight ‘ brain. However today ! Responding activates more analytical brain, thereby giving us choices / options. The world is full of unavoidable Events at any given moment, so take them in, analyze , then Respond ! Chances are it will / hopefully lead towards a safe OUTCOME.

Golden nugget of wisdom right there!

Absolutely.
Take time, analyze, respond.

...I watch too many shorts. 😁

I dont think you're allowed to shoot the guy in the back. Maybe take a shot at one of his legs or arm. Depends on how good a shot you are. Pretty sure that's still illegal in most jurisdictions. I wonder is ANY jury would convict though. Laws only matter if police enforce, DA's prosecute and a jury convicts. That's one thing that makes convictions difficult even for the very guilty. But that's how our system works.

Well the new name change (Pro Flooring) is working out great 🙄
