When I was at the height of perimenopause I was using the flashlight on my phone to look for my phone. Also was looking for the remote control while it was in my hand. And when I was exhausted the other day, I set my mouse aside so I could look for my mouse.
Things have calmed down a little. Got Mom in to see the doctor and he gave some advice. Scheduled her for the expert next Wednesday. Went to the urologist and fortunately knew where it was bc I drove my friend before. He said she'd been in acute renal failure along with the dka. Said for her to drink lots of water. Mom gave me a scare last night and mid afternoon bc she got very lethargic and not very responsive. Sugar was too low. She wouldn't even lift her hand for me to check her sugar. Got some emergency glucose stuff for her now. I've learned how to use the finger sticker thingy and how to check her sugar regularly. She's been getting up on her own in the morning and I get her food. Then I nap. I finally had a nice long nap that I really needed. I also made the mistake of drinking tea with caffeine to keep myself awake before and regretted it bc it gave me arrhythmia.
Past few days I cleaned the hallway, restocked Mom's bathroom cabinet with tp and wet wipes, took out empty boxes, picked up mail, took cat fountain apart to clean it + replace filter, took out trash, put new trash bag in, fed the moo cows hay & sweet feed, went to samsclub to get cases of water, took friend to the dentist to get teeth pulled, picked up a poly dump cart from TSC, grocery shopped, and played nurse to Mom. She now weighs a couple pounds less than me. Makes it a bit easier now bc I can pick her up. I've had to pick her up off of the toilet several times and pull her pants up for her. Had to help her get her shoes and socks on. At one point I was down on one knee putting her socks on her and she says "Where's the ring?" LOL. She got her shoes and socks on by herself today. She's slowly getting better. More lucid, more energy, better appetite, etc. Less cranky. But she gets weak and needs help. She really needs to strengthen her back muscles. My back is doing better now than it was the other day. Oh, and I passed some kidney stones. That sucked but glad to get rid of them. Think I might still have one kicking around on the left side.
I'm going to try to see if we can all move toward changing our diets to less sugar and carbs. More veggies. I got Mom to eat the green beans from the Chinese place. I used to hate green beans, but I love the ones from the Chinese place. Too bad its an hour away.
Also stopped by the tire place to find out if they can change my wheelbearing. It has come so loose it is causing VSA and ABS errors on the truck. Going to try to get that done next Thursday. I've found that if Mom and I try to keep to a more regular schedule of waking up and such that it helps. I have an alarm set for 10:30am (I am NOT a morning person and hate waking up earlier than that-- partially bc i'm a night owl and don't go to sleep until after 2am).
Watched a lot of videos on ICF. And am pondering what flooring to put in the hallway bc I have given up trying get the dog piss, cat diarrhea, and vomit stains out of the current carpet. I saw this at Walmart
Aldhurst Arctic Marbella 12x24 Waterproof Vinyl Tile 4.4 mm 9.65 sq. ft./Case ($1.96/sqft) - Walmart.com and wondered if it would be any good. My main concern with it is that it might be too slippery. Although, I suppose I could put down a washing machine safe runner on the floor with an anti-slip thingy underneath. And it does have some pretty terrible reviews.
My brother has been helping me with Mom more. He got a scare by how close she came to dying. I'm going to try to get him on board with the dietary change. If all of us make the change and don't keep junk food around, hopefully things will improve in all of our health.
