I need to find a new way to communicate with my family members bc the rumor mill is that FB is going to go belly up once their full complicity in allowing user data to be stolen comes out. Not sure if that is correct, but it is disconcerting.
What is also disconcerting is that I think the official mydish website got hacked & the twitter link was changed to the scammers' twitter instead of the correct official one. When I saw the fake twitter account linked on their contacts page, I called the fraud department back & reported it. I asked for an update to confirm that it was caught & rectified. I reported the info on their official forums as well. The lady I talked to in the fraud department this time said that her aunt fell for the scam (phone call claiming to be from Dish) a few months ago.
I wish my mother had listened to me when I told her the call after the installation was a fraud. Fortunately, they didn't change the associated e-mail address so I was able to change the password, get the pin & security question changed, and secure the account.
Dish said that since we didn't actually request the DVR & Hopper & were the victims of fraud, they could replace it with a lower tier model that would cost less, but that to make up for the problem they are giving a $20/month discount for a year. Said we might be able to negotiate a price decrease next year but couldn't promise it. The first lady said that she wished they would give senior discounts and/or military discounts. Although, they said in 1 year we could still swap out the receiver if we didn't find the Hopper or DVR useful. I'm hoping we can use the DVR though. I just need to figure out how. Not sure if Hopper works w/o internet.
I need to go down to the workshop and move something. I've been meaning to move it for weeks but keep forgetting. I'm going to go do that now before the sun goes down. It's starting to set.
Edit: got the stuff moved & reorganized. Note to self: replace lightbulb in insulated room & put something over the hole in the glass (small round hole).
