Never done a job for Empire but back when I was still kickin rug they were the shop where you showed up in the morning and signed up on a clip board for a job. First come first serve. There were guys sleeping in their trucks just waiting for the doors to open in the morning so they could be first on the list.
Did you ever work for New York Carpet World? Was picking up a job there once and the backing was falling off. I left.

There was a small shop I did a few jobs for, Carpet World, but I don’t know if they were part of New York Carpet World or if there is a Carpet World franchise. They were just a smaller shop that we tried out. Don’t remember anything particularly bad about that shop. They ended up moving to the other side of town. We didn’t do enough work for them to justify driving across town to continue the relationship. I do remember that there was a donut shop in the same parking lot. They had good donuts. How can you forget something like that.

I had 3 last fall.
Had a few blood tests over the last few months with 3 IVs
Had to get up and take a pill at 4am with food then if I went back to bed I would have had to get up about 6am to get ready to deal with the traffic to cross our harbour bridge to get to the hospital by 8.30am
Got to get up at 4 am on Friday for the same

I'd rather be a checker at a store or driving a garbage truck than spend every morning waiting in line to see if I was important.....
.... That was a faux pas, I meant to see what number I was in line.

So funny you just mentioned donuts as I'm reading this.

Are they learning anything about you yet?

I was absolutely exhausted after the cleaning, but I finished what I set out to do. Too lazy to grab my phone right now (it's in another room) to upload pics but I will have to later. There is still 1/3 of the room to clean but it wasn't necessary to get the new Starlink equipment set up. Mom's jaw literally dropped when she saw how much I had cleaned up. She's not entirely happy with the new setup-- I gave her a 13 gallon trash can and pushed an end table over for her to use for more stuff. We're going to swap it out with another table though-- one that has doors on it for her to store stuff.

1000mg of Naprosyn and my back still hates me. Got stressed out because of angry calls with Fedex where they refused to deliver yesterday, gave us the run around, and then said they would deliver today after we threatened to call the BBB. A very angry looking driver dropped off the Starlink stuff at 10:30am. I opened the window and said "THANK YOU!". She ignored me, got in her truck, and glared at me. She then glared at my brother when he went out and waved at her.

I cut the pole that is attached to one of the mounts to check fit on the new dish's pole. It's just ever so slightly loose. I figure some gorilla tape on the inside (other starlink users have done that) will help. I may need to cut the pipe shorter. Wish I could find a way to bend it a bit (I'll post pics of it later). I filed off the metal debris/shavings that were left on the pipe after cutting it with my chopsaw. Good thing I had long sleeves and eye protection. Sparks were flying!

The challenging thing will be getting the hole for the release thingy drilled. On the older models it is a 1/2" round button. On the new one it's a 1/2" square.

Stopped at the hardware store to get screws for the mount and then took my brother to his favorite restaurant for his birthday, picked up a nighthawk wifi adapter to get signal from the modem. Grabbed milk from Sams. Got home and temporarily set up our new dish in the back of the pickup truck (where cows can't get it) with cord running through a window that is ajar.

Speedtest results compared to old ISP (note: Viasat speed results were the fastest I'd ever had with viasat ever).

The nighthawk works for my brother to get internet. Speed is super fast. And tomorrow my friend is coming over to help mount the dish on the eaves.

Still working through things
Will update when I find out where my future is heading
I know one thing I will not be going back to flooring at my age:)
Another layer has bought back some of my gear so I think I have a buyer for the lot so it can go
Same here, too old to go back. Keeping my tools to see if my oldest grandson gets interested in the trade. If not, I will sell most of them. I may go ahead and get rid of my carpet cart and vinyl roller. Just not sure what they are worth.

I just read something about starlink. Said that 20 out of the 24 satalites Elon sent up got destroyed by a magnet storm in space.
I wonder if that will give you any problems?
