This is how the factory ships them. They are also packaged this way on a new tool. The problem is that most guys wrap them around the tool very tightly, and or yank them out of the wall when they are done using them, and over time it breaks the copper down and then they will make intermittent contact based on how you position the chord. They are pretty simple to replace. Just make sure you take the "chord minder" sleeve off the old one and slide it over the new one. This will insure a good fit where the chord inserts into the tool.

I've just coiled mine in a circle like I've always done with other tools and extension cords. Never around the tool.
Years ago I had a 25 foot extension cord coil itself into a 25 foot long cord resembling an old telephone handset cord. It's like they twist the copper wire counterclockwise, and I coil it clockwise. Why this stapler cord and one extension cord....... No other tool or extension cords have ever done this.

Good evening, I was looking for some repair parts for my duo fast ENC 5418, when I stumbled across this post. CFR if you are still watching this post, I was wondering if you still carry basically the whole trigger assembly for these staplers yet? Years ago I lost the pin that holds the trigger in place and also the inner spring, so I replaced them with a nail for the trigger, and a pen spring I believe and ran with it for years. Recently its like everything has gotten loose and now the big outer spring and the contact pin keep wanting to slip out. Would you have the trigger, pin, inner and outer springs, and contact pin that a persoin could buy?

Hey @vaskeflooring! In the past couple of months, the flooring tools for Duofast changed hands from Southern Carlson out of Oklahoma to Traxx Corporation. I'm not set up to deal with sales in Iowa, BUT call these guys and ask for a fella by the name of Jim Cooper. Linc Systems - 1-800-513-9918. I've known Jim for 30 years and he's the one who I did my training with years ago. Linc is set up to be able to sell and ship the parts to Iowa. In addition, if you don't feel comfortable fixing it, you can ship them the tool and they will repair it and send it back to you fairly inexpensively.

I gave them a call and they do have the parts for the tacker in stock.

As a wholesaler, we're just not set up to sell products in Iowa.

Just a heads up. Duofast made a change several years back on the current tacker and went from a partially pre-assembled trigger assembly to what is on the attached schematic. The older pre-assembled parts are riveted together and can't be taken apart. That being said, you might need to change to the whole trigger assembly to the one in the attached schematic if you have the older version. The reason is that if the contact pin (GO-201-1) is worn or needs to be replaced, you can't get it out of the riveted assembly. The new version allows for the removal of the GO-115-B1 switch so that you can get to the contact pin and replace it without replacing the trigger switch.

If you do have to change the whole thing, you would need the following: GO-201-1, GO-215-1, GO-115B1, GO-115-6A, GO-115-8, GO-115-10, GO-215-9, and the GO-201-4.

Best of luck with it and if you have any questions, I'm happy to try and answer them for you.

Thank you very much for the response, great information!! I will take a closer look at mine and see what I will need to order. No problem, I totally understand about you not being set up to sell in Iowa. I appreciate the name and number of the guy to call, and the call to check on the parts. Outstanding Customer Service, even though Im technically not your customer.... Super Impressed by that!! I'm getting up there in age as are a lot of my tools, after almost 25 years of (20 of them as my main job) I am only installing part time on the side and really cant justify buying new tools if I can repair my old ones to get me through for maybe a couple more years. Not to mention the sticker shock of the replacement for this tacker compared to when i bought this one however long ago.... Again thank you very much for all of your help and time!!

I'm guessing they could sell you a trigger for $16, but if they redesigned the electronics, they will sell you a trigger with attached electronics for $115?
....smart move. 🫣

I forgot to mention that you can tell if it’s the old version if there is a metal retainer nut where the trigger comes out of the handle. If it’s black plastic then it’s the new version. Good luck with it and if you have any questions let me know. Wish you were closer. I could fix for you in about five minutes. 😊
