I'll make a stupid comment first and then click on the link.
People that have gotten the covid shot are still getting covered because it's morphed into something else. Now we're told it might be advisable to get a third covid shot. When that doesn't work do we get a fourth and fifth shot?
I don't know about other states but here in Oregon everyone wears masks going into stores. People keep a 6-ft distance at the checkout line. Our Oregon governor has mandated we do this.
Some people don't follow the rules but most people do by far.
You would literally have to eliminate covid from every single person and every single country for this covid thing to go away. That ain't going to happen never, never, ever.
So what is the answer? I don't have that. Lockdowns don't work because all it takes is one person to screw the whole thing up,. ....and that's going to happen.

So you do a lockdown.
There a case and a week later there's an outbreak of four people that have covid.
You do another lockdown and two week quarantine and two more people still test positive.
.... Extend the lockdown for another week.
No more covered cases it's been 3 weeks and so you open things back up.
One more person test positive for covid so you lock everybody down again.
.... Over and over and over and over and over.
Lockdowns don't work. This disease is going to have to run its course and morph into something like a typical flu or disappear. I don't know how many variants there are at this time but I know there's at least three. It's just a nasty thing and the best you can do is be careful until it decides it wants to die.

I read it and it's kind of humorous. As an American I do not understand any way shape or form lockdowns. Advisories, recommendations, yes. Lockdowns will not make this go away period. It's like mold. There is one billion of them. You clean up 999,999,999 of them.
All you need is one spore left after cleaning to start the process all over again. This just cannot be done forever. People are social creatures and they're going to start jumping off cliffs, and I already have over this confinement. Be careful, take precautions, and get on with your life.
With the exception of wearing a mask, we're required, I have not changed one single thing since covid arrived in the US. Nothing!
Might I get that tomorrow at the grocery store? Yup, that could happen. I have to take the risk. I am not going to live in a bubble for the next 5 years waiting for this thing to go away. I'm also not going to allow the government to tell me what to do. The local police and sheriff's departments and sheriff departments all over the state of Oregon will not enforce the covid restrictions. If there's a mask requirement and I go into a store without one. Nothing is going to happen. The police and the sheriffs told the governor to go get screwed. They will not enforce her fines or anything else associated with her mandates.
She threatened all state workers being fired if they don't get covid shots. They told her to go jump in the lake.
In other words they call her bluff.
She extended the time period for a few months, so what good is that going to do?
You can't fire tens of thousands of people in government and find qualified people to replace them.
Where your mask, be careful, and cross your fingers. You got to get on with "a" life. Governments of loving their ability to control people.

Sure, I could buy 10 acres in the middle of the desert, put a 10' wall around it, bring in a trailer, and live the remainder of my life, isolated from everyone, never visiting far-away places, and never have to worry about something that has a .03% chance of killing me. If this was my only option, personally, I'd rather put a bullet in my skull, because that is not living, that sounds more like hell.

I didn't know the chances of dying from it were so high.
Maybe I'll have to start taking trips out into the hills again. I honestly miss the self isolation. Not remotely the same watching gomer Pyle and the weather forecast at home.

That's not reality, so until this thing self destructs and disappears, take reasonable precautions.

hav its not just me its the majority of New Zealanders who just want to get their lives back to the old days Thats why people here go along with things. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel
You are correct that most of our money comes from tourism especially Australia USA Asia etc
The question is do we want tourist dollars or hospital beds full of virus patients with people bringing the virus with them from overseas. At the moment people are coming back to NZ bringing the virus with them

So, what happens when those 20% of unjabbed folks spread it to the 80% of jabbed folks? Seems you would be back to square one. The best way out is to all get the vid virus, which gives everyone a temporary immunity, for what I hear is up to 8 months, right? I don't know. I'm just brainstorming. I got the ***, but now hear this will become an annual *** if we want some protection, since people still get it with the ***, correct? I heard on the internet recently that in about 5 years, will the 7 time jabbers will blame the only 4-5 time jabbers for giving them the covid?

Oh, it is also recommended that pregnant women should not get the ***. Why? Now, they are jabbing the 10-18 year olds? Do they need parental permission? Seems eerily similar to the Jewish prisoners being marched to the "showers" loaded with cyanide by the Nazi's.

I certainly don't know the answer, but they try locking Americans down with police roadblocks surrounding our neighborhoods, they will be met with a resistance more armed than the police. It will not work.

Jon part of my point is, New Zealand has the possibility to totally eliminate all cases in your country but since that hasn't really been achieved the rest of the world, you'll have to lock everyone out of your country until the virus has disappeared elsewhere. What if this thing hangs out for another year? Stats show that 65% of Americans have been vaccinated in 33% of new zealanders have been vaccinated. I'm not sure that is the right approach, long term.
That being said, I'm not sure how effective this vaccine is because people that have been vaccinated or getting the variant now.
I'm not sure if I did my math right but it looks like 13% of Americans have gotten covid or at least been tested positive for it. There must be a lot of people that haven't come down with symptoms so these people already have a better natural immunity then people who have gotten the shots.
It says here that 70% to 85% of people age 50 and above have gotten their shots and these are the people most vulnerable.
In that sense I guess we're being fairly obedient.

To an American that's just plain crazy. The government does not control us like puppets. Never has because they know they never can.
We are not obedient to the state, though they're trying to. I don't know if it's New York where there are a thousands of health care workers that have been given a deadline to get the covid shot and they refused for whatever reason. If they don't get the shot by the new deadlines they will be fired.
If they are fired, they will not be allowed to collect unemployment money. They might as well send in the SWAT team and put people in handcuffs and forcibly give them the *** whether they like it or not. If they get resistant maybe have to shoot them with a taser before you put a shot of their arm.
I'd id like to see them do that because the lawsuits would make a lot of people be able to retire handsomely.
