highup that is why I mentioned earlier that if NZ can keep the virus out of the community all is good cause we had only a small number of cases whereas the USA was to late to try and control the spread. Police here do not go driving around looking for people driving anywhere. Only stopping people from leaving certain areas to contain the spread
CMP Chuck I am old enough to remember the days that eveybody got those different vaccines for things like Polio, Measles, Small Pox as standard. I also remember children at schools walking around with metal supports on their legs with people in iron lungs. I think maybe that people these days dont believe in vaccines as they have forgotten those days so therefore one can get by without those vaccines. Who has heard of someone with Polio these days. A little while ago Samoa had a real bad run with measles cause people werent inoculated which some of those people bought to NZ and spread it here. Results lots of people now got vaccinated against measles
Its going to be interesting here today as a guy is organizing a protest march with no masks , no vaccines etc etc
I hope the police and army round them all up take them to a barren island just off our coast with a bottle of water and a loaf of bread and let them "live" with their belief's so that they can keep the virus to themselves :)
I reckon our community cases are going to really go up after today:mad:

Over 34 million people arrived in New York via international plane flights in 2019.
The president stopped international travel from China and was called a racist for doing so.
With that much travel coming into and out of a city, there was no stopping this in the US.
I don't know how much travel from China to New Zealand existed at that time but I'm sure it's a teeny tiny bit less than New York City
😁

Jon, it's just different here in America. There are government ads on TV and from news agencies and many other sources reminding people to wear a mask wipe down surfaces wash your hands etc.
We are given information and we are allowed to choose what to do with that information.
That's how this country has always behaved, so there's absolutely no way that people are going to March to the government's orders. That's just the way it is here.
It's good that you guys have been able to keep this under control.
This simply spread in the United States like a bad cancer going everywhere to every state within a week or two. If you had 100 rats in a cage, you could immediately separate the 100 rats to stop the spread of the disease they have.
If you have 60 million rats in a cage, it would be hard to isolate that number of rats to stop the spread. I think that's the situation we have here.

When we went there a couple of years ago on a cruise going from Bali to Sydney we went out to the reef by boat for the day, they gave you thin plastic like an cover over skin to prevent the stings from the millions of little Jelly Fish which were present in the water. We gave up trying to get those covers on so just watched the fish from the glass bottom boat like a submarine which was there
Wished we had gone a few years earlier before the changes

Where is the logic? Missouri passed an increase in the gas tax. 2.5 cents a year until it totals 17 cents. I voted against it. But here is the stupid part. We can keep our receipts and file each year to get a refund of the tax money we spent. ??????????

Wait until it really gets bad!

California pumps out the highest state gas tax rate of 66.98 cents per gallon, followed by Illinois (59.56 cpg), Pennsylvania (58.7 cpg), and New Jersey (50.7 cpg).

Since it is a specific gas tax, you would only get pennies on the dollar, if your adjusted gross income falls between those lines between nothing and $1200, or some ridiculous amount. Thanks to our one way government.

What are you guys complaining about? :)

Petrol prices here US$6.75 a gallon
Diesel US$3.78 a gallon
Warrant of Fitness every 1 or 2 years on newer vehicles NZ$65.00
Registration diesel NZ$ 176.56 along with a road tax of NZ$76.00 per 1000 ks as petrol has road taxes built into the price per gallon
Registration petrol NZ$109.16
To insure my NZ$40.000 wagon NZ$1463.00
One of your Dollars equals 0.76 cents here
And you guys earn heaps more than we do for doing the same thing :)

Oregon has 2,000 more km of State roads than New Zealand. 😁 There's another 500 km of federal highways.
Not to mention 71,000 miles of national forest roads..... thats just in Oregon 😱
That's why we need cheaper Petro than you guys. 😁
