Worst possible choice of wood to attempt something like that. I saw a red oak floor with shorts and it looked fantastic. I recall it being like 14 by 24, then took off at a 30 or 45 degree angle for another 14 by 24. Living room, then kitchen then dining room. The owner was a retired engineer, and he and his wife did the install. I'm betting they hired out the sanding and finishing.
