Daris, what would those Southerners do if they got real snow like we do? You get a lot more than we do, and we really don't pay much attention when we get 6". Some areas down there got 2" and it shut down everything.

-2 last night, high today 11, zero tonight. Where is Al Gore?

Probably cruising around somewhere on his biofuel yacht.

32 here this morning, and 42 at 2:00. 42 will probably be our high. Just 25 miles north of here, they had freezing rain. 50 miles up the coast from me it's still 27 degrees. We missed the bullet today. Hope we do again tonight.
25 miles and farther inland the temperatures will remain cold. Right now, just 20 miles from the coast, it's 27............ no, nothing big, but it's mainly the road conditions that are the problem. Freezing rain then snow or black ice.

Here on the southern part of the coast, we got really lucky having the late winter storm stay north of us, but everywhere from up the coast and inland, it is nasty. More wrecks on the highways, interstate and in the cities than they have had for a long time. Even a Shaw truck got in an accident and wasn't able to make any deliveries to the coast today. Here's an image from the Portland metro area a little while ago on interstate 5 near the Oregon/Washington border.
The second image is the last daylight image from this camera taken at 5:24pm. This is our major freeway approaching the states most densely populated city. There should be three lanes of bumper to bumper traffic this time of the day. More cold and snow on the way tomorrow, then the system will begin to pass and it will all turn to rain.
