This little Red Squirrel popped out on the path this morning to say hi to me. Seemed like he was smiling...

We have some of the smartest birds in the world again, crows. My favorite bird. I am having trouble getting pictures of them.
I saw some yesterday at Ouabache State Park near me, but they were too far away for me to get a picture. They were hanging around near the Bison pen. Quite a few people were walking around there yesterday to see the new baby Bison calf that was born a couple of weeks ago. The crows tend to show up and see what they can scavenge from the picnic leftovers that people leave.

Here is one from back in March. This one is at Mississenewa Reservoir south of where I live.

They come to my area in the winter for some reason? The sky goes black with so many of them. Probably in the hundreds of thousands.

Our stupid town hires people to harass them to get them to leave. 😂. They shine laser pens at them and bottle rockets. Occasionally shoot one with a pellet gun to “send a message to the rest”. They’re freaking idiots! Can’t imagine what the city pays them for this BS.

The Crows don’t hurt anything. Just a few rich ******** are tired of their cars getting **** on. If anything, they help clean up. They eat all the nasty stuff they find.

Kind of pisses me off when they mess with them. Maybe next winter I’ll hide in a bush and shoot the crow hazers with my BB gun. 😂

Crows are extremely intelligent. They can even learn to talk.

They were running in ginormous "murders" many years ago in the San Gabriel Valley until Bird Flu wiped so many out. They're making a comeback but nothing like those days. I dont love crows, mostly because they'd attack the sparrow nests in our twin palm trees out on the front of the property. Nearly every year we'd find baby sparrows dead on our front lawn. Sometimes they made it to the driveway or bushes. Quite a few survived and we raised them up in the house til they were able to join the flocks in the back of the yard where the fruit trees were.

There aren't too many in the marsh, but there are a few. It's interesting to watch their behaviors in different environments. I've seen them work together against larger birds - Eagles & Hawks to "escort" them out of their territory. About 4-5 will start harassing and swooping at the bird they want to move and then once the larger bird takes flight they will fly very closely to them and direct them out of the area. Very similar to how fighter planes will move an aggressive pilot away from a target in a non-combat situation.
