Had to buy a new TV awhile ago but was about the same size as our old one
Not much use getting a real large expensive one to go to sleep in front of it

Watched Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein last night on Svengooley. I was on the edge of my seat the entire show.

I'm not fond of the curved TVs either. The picture doesn't seem as good if I'm standing off to the side so it really seems to be best for the person just directly in the middle & while I like curves, it's just not as good as a flat screen for me.
I do like the new sound technology where instead of being surrounded by speakers, you can speakers & adjust them so they bounce sound off of walls or objects in the room to get the surround sound experience. I saw a JVC tv in the store that did that and it was pretty cool.
I still remember my father got a very fancy (back in the day) surround system with multiple speakers mounted around the room. I think the first thing we watched that could really utilize those speakers was The Hunt For Red October. Which reminds me of when I went to the theater with my father to watch U-571. When they were doing the Morse code, my father was whispering to me what the messages were.
I forgot to mention that the videos are now working properly. Not sure what happened, but it seems to have sorted itself out. Maybe kitty stepped on the right key combo again.
Speaking of kitties, I was eating and one of my cats very proudly jumped up on the table with a mouse clutched in her teeth. She let me see it and then basked in the praise & petting. I brought her some canned food (some kind of chicken pate) and she kept sniffing it, but didn't want to drop her mouse. I put the pate in a bowl so she set the mouse on top of it and ate around it. She ate part of the mouse for dessert before losing interest. When she looked away I disposed of it. She's a good little mouser.

I'll keep my surround system.. I paid $10,000 for them .. Sonus Faber imports from Italy .. I mostly listen to music, and if you close your eyes it sounds like you are at the concert .. I was watching the old carol Burnet shows the other night on the box .. Funny looking at old skits ..

Due to my hearing loss I don't listen to radio at all in the car or anywhere else for that matter and very little TV anymore. I even got the sound turned off on my computer and just watch whatever without any sound. Closed captioning goes to fast for me to rerad it so that isn't on either. Still better to be deaf than blind in my opinion.
You are right. I am sure my blind son would rather be deaf.
Nick, you must have an awesome sound system. Mine isn't working anymore. Mice chewed the wires, I lost the remote for the box, and I have no clue how to use it. My father was the one who knew how it operated. He used it to play Bach music (before that he had a beautiful old record player that he would use to play Bach on weekends- he'd just sit back and relax while he watched us run around the room "dancing").
Looks like a lot of work, Don. Also, is that cabinet made of flooring or is it just lined with it on the outside?
The hassle with my insurance company has already begun. I'm thinking of complaining to corporate about the local agent and how lazy & dismissive she was. Towing guy said she was just being lazy. He also agreed to do an estimate which should be ready sometime today. I decided to look up parts on rockauto to see if I could get price quotes and find out if he can get stuff cheaper or not. The prices weren't so bad until it calculated shipping.
