Nick, you must have an awesome sound system. Mine isn't working anymore. Mice chewed the wires, I lost the remote for the box, and I have no clue how to use it. My father was the one who knew how it operated. He used it to play Bach music (before that he had a beautiful old record player that he would use to play Bach on weekends- he'd just sit back and relax while he watched us run around the room "dancing").

Looks like a lot of work, Don. Also, is that cabinet made of flooring or is it just lined with it on the outside?

The hassle with my insurance company has already begun. I'm thinking of complaining to corporate about the local agent and how lazy & dismissive she was. Towing guy said she was just being lazy. He also agreed to do an estimate which should be ready sometime today. I decided to look up parts on rockauto to see if I could get price quotes and find out if he can get stuff cheaper or not. The prices weren't so bad until it calculated shipping.

I’m not fimilar with that one.
They had a turntable that went for $10,000
They sold mono ( 1 channel so you need 2 of them) power amplifiers for $6,000 each.
Even some of the innerlink cables that went between components , people would spend hundreds each.
They would have doctors and lawyers come in and they would rave about how their new cables made such a difference in the sound , I think at a certain point it’s all on their mind.

Finally got color right. Had problems getting edges to take color. Buffed well with 4/0 steel wool. Used a rag touched with a bit of stain from stirring stick on edge details then wiped off excess carefully. Wiped down with a paper towel with just a drop of mineral spirits. One coat of oil based Minwax poly. Not going to touch it till Thursday.

Next spring I’m putting down 400 sq feet of laminate, probably Pergo or Quickstep. Also replacing all baseboard and door trim. Finish is all poorly applied. 80 feet of baseboard, 150 feet of door trim. Also paint. Might contract that out. Maybe I can stain some pieces during winter until garage gets cold.

Hi, the customer said there was some give to the osb subfloor , so they thought the extra 1/4” would stiffen it up.
I was thinking ... this is easy money.

Daris, i know. The last cabinet was all open back there but we never utilized the space. Besides its ij a bathroom.
Maybe I'll install a safe back there.

Turns out the shipping price on those parts from rockauto was a glitch. Went back a few hours later & it said it was $173 instead.

Tom, I love the color of that wood with the stain on it.

Question: Do they make waterproof/animal-pee proof laminate these days? I don't mean like the spills that you find right away-- but say the cats knock over their waterer & or the dog supersoaks the floor in the middle of the night or while we aren't home...

I still have plumbing work to do but since there is no hot water shutoff & no shutoff at the fixture, I'll have to shut off the whole pump & water heater but I can't seem to work around the schedule of family members who want to use the water. I really wish there was a plug or something to put in or over the valve while I removed the stem an valve seat.

Meanwhile, in a bit of good news, I was kvetching to one of my friend's co-workers (at an auto parts store) how I couldn't get the ball rolling on the truck repairs bc I didn't have the other driver's info. The co-worker suddenly recognized me-- he'd been at the scene of the accident bc he works for the sheriff's department on the side. He was one of the responders & he was the one who answered the phone when I called to ask for the info. He's technically not allowed to give the info out, but since he understands my predicament & saw how frustrated I am, he told me when he'd be in & that I should call in and ask for him by name and he would give me the name & insurance policy #. I hadn't recognized him bc it was so dark at the scene that I couldn't really see people's faces well. Once I have that info I can get things moving along.
