Yes I'm also one of those people that also think it was dumb for people to have traveled for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. How do you get covid if you stay away from people and take precautions?

Well my day today went fairly well, I got done what I needed to. I installed some self-leveling concrete in the hallway to cover up some very irregular terracotta tiles. The correct primer was not available so I used another primer made by Latacrete. It says to apply primer, mixed one to one with water then pour it on, ...then sprinkle the self-leveling powder onto the wet surface and scrub it in to make a slurry.
The manufacturer for the leveler I used has a one component product that you roll on, then wait for it to dry. Simple and quick.
The method by laticrete means you have to scrub the material you poured onto the floor with powder and it's kind of messy creating the slurry that way.
Though it's a slow process scrubbing it in to the surface mixing the powder and slurry mix probably helps bond it to the surface better by scuffing it up as we scrub the floor mixing the slurry.
It dried faster than I expected and that was a good thing.
So today I made a really nice looking terracotta hallway quite ugly.
I didn't take any pictures but I also put 80 lb of self-leveling concrete over the floor to flatten it out. it turned out pretty nice. These tiles are really tall in the center and inconsistent in thickness. I'm installing a low profile carpet and there is no way in hell I would have installed it without doing this first. The lady questioned why I needed to do this. I would have simply refused to do the job because I knew my stretched-in carpet job would fail if I didn't flatten the floor.
It also would have been dangerous for people to walk on. The carpet would have looked flat. However walking on it would have felt like walking on mountains and mole hills. People would easily have tripped on this hallway. The people users house is a bed and breakfast so safety is more of a concern than a regular house.

I think we should just shut the borders to everybody until this virus gets sorted like letting sports teams in bringing the virus them then getting cases like this where the govt wont let these people in

Rusty, that was one of my dad's favorite songs. I loaded it up to listen to it while waiting at my doctor's office for my appointment. They play some kind of elevator music that I don't like so I get out my phone and listen to my own music. Paul Robeson did a version of Lazy Bones, but I like the Leon Redbone version better. We also liked stuff by Mungo Jerry. In the Summertime is a good one.
Got up early for the dental appointment and took my friend. They took lots of x-rays and said I need some sort of bonding done on a lot of my teeth and some fillings. Need to fix the chip on one of my molars and do something to reduce the gap between two molars where food constantly gets stuck. They have to wait for approval from my doctor since I have to take antibiotics first due to prolapsed valves. They were asking me about my cardiologist & I had to explain that he died & I haven't found a good one since.
Things did not go well for my friend. Numbing wouldn't work. They started trying to pull a tooth & he felt it and made a noise. They stopped and waited but his gums would not go numb. He was given a referral to an oral surgeon- which will be more expensive. His sinus cavity, nose, lips, and tongue all went numb, but his gums didn't. He had a hard time eating but he managed to eat two plates of food.
Ran in to another mutual friend at Tractor Supply. I had to get cow feed. He teased unlucky friend about how he was like the broom for sale- "all purpose and gets pushed around". We are going to help the mutual friend with fixing up the house he just bought. I've offered to haul stuff in the truck, paint, and check out the plumbing to make sure it's right. My guess is that it probably isn't.
Friend's mom's boyfriend survived covid. But not sure if his ex's father will survive since he has Lupus.
It's already getting cold today & it's supposed to get down to 15 next Friday (which is nearly unheard of around here). Might even snow.

Stopped at a flea market and bought an old bookcase for $25.
Kids know how to make you feel good. My 15 year old grandson was helping me load some of the stuff I had made in my shop. We found a big castle I made about 20 years ago, it has turrets, an arched double door and a drawbridge. He asked if he could have it. I said aren't you a little old to play with that. He said, I don't want it to play with, I want it because you made it.
So people staying for a month or three at McMurdo station and obviously can't get covid still can't visit New Zealand? Now I think that's going to wee bit overboard.
Quarantine the entire Earth nobody can leave home for one month even to buy food or to see a doctor. I'm guessing that would bring it under control.

Nobody's mentioned the suicide rate increase in the past year. I'll have to check that out.
The only impact this has had on my life in the past year is I wear a mask when I go into a store.
Today is the second job in the last year where I've been asked to wear a mask. Working with a mask on really sucks. That's people in the home are rarely within 50 ft of me and both of them wear masks in the house and when outdoors.
So far covered has been very very good to me. My work has been relatively steady for most of the year and the jobs are larger than I'd like.
I have two homes coming up in the next month and I still haven't gotten to a half dozen repairs from back in November. Even though my hours are short the workload still beats my body up a little bit, but it's better having a week or two with no work.
it's funny that sometimes you can buy something already built and it would cost you four times as much to buy the parts cut them, assemble it and stain it.

I can't believe how many videos this family puts out is like one a day. If you watch a lot of these videos the boy that plays the bass and other instruments is fantastic. So is the one that plays the drums but drummers don't seem to get the correct amount of attention. Everyone seems to be spot on when they do these videos. . As fast as they pump these videos out I'm amazed at the quality of the music. Dad is fantastic but the two boys are amazing for their age. They make it seem effortless.

Went to see my friend today bc the Rev-A-Shelf tip-out shelf thing came in for him. We installed it but it was a pain because he has trouble seeing & another friend tried to help but he's not very bright & he ended up stripping the screws.
Things were tense while we waited for his ex to leave for work. She refuses to accept that they aren't a couple anymore. When she's out she constantly calls & wants to know where he is, who he's with, and what he is doing. I told him the simple answer is "None of your business". She also stopped taking her medicine which means she's a danger to others. He hadn't been paying attention to whether or not she was taking them & he didn't care. She's stopped smoking, but I think it's only because my friend refuses to pay for the cigarettes & the friend who stripped the screws has been hiding her lighters. She told me she stopped taking them despite the doctors telling her she needed to take them or she can't be around her baby. But she doesn't give a damn about the baby. She only uses him to get attention on the internet by posting pics and claiming he's her world. I have to constantly stop myself bc I want to reply to her posts & point out she's a horrible mother who won't even hold her baby for 5 minutes. I have never seen her hold him for a full 5 minutes ever and she constantly complains if he wants to be held. No wonder the baby eats so much. He's substituting food for attention/affection. Ever since she came back, the house has been a mess. She doesn't clean up after herself, she leaves half-consumed bottles of water and drinks all over the place, she stopped taking her allergy meds so she spits up mucus and spits it right onto the floor/carpet. The girl who had been cleaning barely comes out of her room because she wants to avoid her (she also hasn't been feeling well since she's pregnant).
Once she left we were able to relax more & another friend (the one who just bought a house that we met at Tractor Supply) came over. We had pizza (which I regret bc it made me sick) and went to Home Depot to get supplies. My unlucky friend needed a breaker, some outlets, outlet boxes, and some conduit to run new wires so he can have a heater. I saw a very cool mini palm nail gun but didn't buy it. I will check reviews on it. It's Porter Cable and fits in my hand. Would be good for tight spaces & it can hook to my compressor.
I'm trying to get to sleep but since I'm having indigestion it isn't working out so well. Got my cat, Boo, here wanting to cuddle. He has a great purr & that usually helps.

The little girl has had some parts with a tambourine, maracas and the cowbell. Has goofy as she is her timing, musically, is spot on. I'm sure she's learning instruments.
