I think I forgot to comment on Puddles the Clown. I enjoy Puddles Pity Party. I also enjoy the Sound of Silence song in various iterations. There is an 18-string guitar version that is cool (too lazy to go get the link).

I went to help transport lumber and cabinets today and then did my best to help with installation-- although my part consisted on standing on things to hold them still & giving some suggestions on getting cleaner cuts. They did not take my advice on staggering the plywood though. My friend got the countertop in and the vinyl plank down after I left. I wanted to stay but had to go cook for Mom since my brother (who was supposed to cook for her) fell asleep after she asked him to cook instead of cooking & she couldn't wake him up (he's a heavy sleeper). He woke up in time to come eat some of my food.

I did leave some kneeling mats for my friend to make it easier on his knees when he was doing the floor. Not sure if he used them or not. (he was initially going to put the vinyl plank down on the 1st plywood layer but it had big chunks taken out where there were knots & the seams were too rough).

As an aside, my friend's mom called and insisted he had to come to a house she was cleaning to come see the mud puppy she caught (big fat salamander with tiny legs). She then showed us the inside of the house and I immediately recognized asbestos floor tiles. She's going to clean them out herself without any protective gear. She's not the brightest bulb.

How large are the tiles? If they come up on one piece or two there isn't much problem It's when the break into smaller pieces or have to be chisled up that you'd have an issue. Legal disposal is another issue.

I gave my pain pills to the warehouse guys. Sure did wonders for speeding up my load outs in the mornings.😏 My lower back occasionally acts up now n then but I find that stretching does wonders. Funny thing is I never hurt while I’m working. It’s always a couple hours after I’m done that things start to stiffen up. Maybe I just need a 30’ burritoed up cut of soft back at the house to pick up and carry around when I get sore.

You know that workin for retired people always has me finding pills on the floor. Sewing needles too.

Somehow I skipped over this one CJ. That pretty much get by two ibuprofen in the morning. When I'm done showering in the morning that cranks the heat up then do some slow stretching to get my lower back and shoulders moving. It seems to work pretty good.
After that I avoid heavy lifting on working very hard. 😁

Be careful, Ibuprofen is what messed up my kidneys.

Hiighup, they were 9"x9" tiles. Some of them were curled, some were broken. Looks like it had been water damaged in there and dried out. Smelled awful. I think the friend's mom plans to pry them all up and put them out with the regular trash to be taken to the city dump. I think there were multiple layers of tile as well. If she doesn't put them out on the street she may end up burning them in the back yard of the house she's cleaning.

Over on houserepairtalk forums, Eddie was saying he got a Spineworx board and that it worked for him.

Rusty, I had to stop taking Ibuprofen. I took a lot of it in high school & college because I had constant migraines. My father also took a lot of it & our doctor told us to stop taking it and suggested alternatives. I would have to take 1500mg of the Ibuprofen to get it to work at all. Same with my father. Now I take Naproxyn on bad days (but try not to take it too often).

My cat Rupert is acting like a heating pad for my shoulder right now. Sir Hammington is on top of my feet. They are both happy because they've been fed & are resting their fat bellies. Boo kept trying to wake me up this morning but I was tired. He resorted to giving me a side massage to try to get me to wake up. It managed to wake up my guts enough that I had to get up. LOL.

I made the mistake of eating too much fried chicken last night. The grease gets to my stomach. I peel the breading off because I don't like it and because it makes my stomach worse. I really should listen to my body instead of my tastebuds on some things. LOL. Certain foods that taste good do not sit well with my stomach.

When I stop feeling nauseous I'll have to go to the store and get more groceries so I can cook something better for mom tonight. Last night was just a tv dinner. I also need to see if we can make potato soup in the pressure cooker.

This weekend I will go help a friend pick out paint for her kitchen.

Gas prices are crazy. $2.99 Monday, $3.69 Tuesday , $3.29 this morning, $3.05 tonight.
Passed a truck stop in the little town of Jasper,Mo. gas was $2.79 today.

when prices rose to these levels before, it was 2008, and we remember that. They said gas prices were unrelated to the mortgage crisis. But gas prices cause transportation costs to go up. And so many people live on a thin edge with their budget, they couldn’t pay the mortgage. Investors who understood the dynamics, saw the crash coming and bought cdo‘s, etc. my feelings are that will happen again. My suggestion, raise cash and used fixed rate mortgages.

Hmm.. if i start swimming now with the trade currents being what they are this time of year I think you could expect my corpse to show up sometime in 2024 but I cannot be sure that posthumously I would be of much assistance :)

It really does look good though, or last kitchen was on its last legs and frankly I needed that room to make another bedroom for my ever increasing brood of children. When we moved into this 960 sqft nightmare that calls itself a home we had one child, ONE, now we have three and three kids in one bedroom was not quite going to cut it. Something needed to be done so I dun-did-it. I think that is how that goes.

The trouble I am finding that all the kitchen guys who owe me a few favors have all retired and got rid of their tools so are you sure Mark you dont want to do it for me Mates rates which of course as I would owe you one :)

And so many people live on a thin edge with their budget

Living your life isn’t much different than running a business and the reality is the majority of people don’t know their own numbers. Or maybe they do but they’re walking such a fine line that when any little hiccup happens they’re effed. How many people live on the edge just so they can keep up the appearance of being successful.

There’s a reason bags of potato chips have so much air in them. It’s called fluff room and nobody allows for fluff anymore. How many people have at least 6 months savings in the bank? How many people limit their house payment or rent to the 25% of their take home income rule? How many people use a debit card vs a credit card that offers cash back or some other incentive, you even have certain protections with a credit card that you just don’t get with a debit card. That right there is reason enough to cut up your debit card. We’ve become a country of piss poor planners (except for the rich, obviously, because they plan) who whine and beg for government assistance when the goin gets tough.

Perfect example of people not knowing their numbers is the last warehouse guy that quit was bitching about how he needs to make $1400 a week to make ends meet. I’m thinkin to myself then why the hell did you say yes to a job that pays 8, dumbshit!

I was watching some show called something or other Meltdown that is done at Hershey Park-- some kind of chocolate competition. They apparently make chocolate beer.

CJ, our society is currently set up to penalize people for being poor/low income. Many can't even make ends meet with working full time because of past hiccups. My best friend keeps trying so hard to get back on his feet but every time something happens to knock him back down. Happens to other friends as well. The ones I'm currently helping with their kitchen both work, have no kids, and don't live lavishly, but they bought a trailer that got destroyed by a hurricane right after they finished paying it off. Then they bought a house but seller lied & it turned out it was condemned so they had to sell it for less than they paid for it, and now they are trying to fix up another trailer. They recently had Covid & didn't get paid while out sick. Also had to get a "new" used vehicle bc one of theirs crapped out (they both work at different places so need separate vehicles). But, at least they could afford that much.

I went to the store and found they were out of stuff I wanted to get. Got stuck in traffic because it looked like there was some sort of wreck but it was cleared before I got up there. 30 minutes to travel 500ft. It reminded me of Houston traffic.

CJ, pretty much sums up some of the principals of Buddhism. Suffering exists. We must do what we can to reduce suffering.

I really should be sleeping now but my stomach is bugging me.
