Well the fast food places make most managers, then they put them on a weekly salary and can make them work 60 hours without overtime money.
To be fair, anyone stupid enough to take a salary in a food service industry is just dumb and deserves to be taken advantage of. Not to mention, one could always exercise work to rule under that circumstance and take a stand against being taken advantage of and do exactly as your contract states. Most salaried positions have hourly limitations. The though that salary means you do whatever is "required" of you to make your compensation is generally wrong.

So I looked into a bit of the legislation on this matter down there in the America and from what I can garner, I might have been entirely off on my commentary about conditions of salary. That being said I would like to update my stance on salaried positions in America.

Anyone taking a salary in America is an idiot. Full stop.
You people have some very ****** labor laws.

In every business relationship there are two kinds of people, the fuckers and the fuckees. If you don’t know which one you are, that’s a clue.

See, I do not believe that for a minute. Work should be traded for an appreciable compensation and both parties should be amicable to the terms.
Unfortunately your statement is often more true than mine.

I would like to think things should be that way too but clearly there is no shortage of companies looking for people to use up and burn out only to put another ad on Craigslist looking for fresh suckers to start the cycle all over again.

Not every company is like that but far more are than not so if you find a good one stick with em.

Same here as the retailers keep on saying they have layers asking all the time for work
NOT ASKING why they are leaving the other firm which is always suspicious to me
Are not they any good as most layers will stick with what they have got. Very hard to pull out when the retailer owes them for say a months work. Going to hang onto money for any maybe repairs etc etc

Some of them would hold back money here. Then they found out they had to pay interest on it. The last big store I worked for would have the customer pay the installer direct. Then they had no responsibility for the installation.

A few do that here as well but a lot of customers cant be bothered chasing layers to get their job done so they move to a retailer who uses their own layers. A couple of layers I know who were given their names out by those shops would get the people to ring me

The store sends out layers but it is up to the layer to make the customer happy so they get paid. All material must be paid for in advance.
Never had a customer not pay. Only got one bad check in all the years and I collected on it. Only job I ever got completely stiffed on was for only $40.

Well today I secured one of the three new pickups for my guitar. God love you ebay.

Scored a Lace Sensor Hot Gold for 51 dollars used. Project rebuild on the electric is coming along. New pots were last week, new jack end and now its all about finding the best pickup combination I can. It will take some time and a lot of patience but in the end I want to wire a 7 way switch and 3 single coils or if I am feeling really rowdy I will go for a humbucker on the bottom, but I think I will stick with the SSS strat style.
That's exactly what I was going to recommend.

CJ, I'm very glad I woke up too. My brother had that sort of dream and did not wake up until he discovered it was not all a dream.

Mark, part of the problem is there are so few places to work in my area that you pretty much get stuck in retail (where they have a lot of the same problems) or food service. Most of the smaller businesses shut down and/or don't hire anyone outside of their family or close friends. I was looking at statistics for my town and found that there are more college educated people living in poverty than ones who have high school education-- because most places here won't hire people who are college graduates (which is why I don't mention my college degree anymore when applying for jobs because I was always getting the "overqualified" bs). The real reason is they don't want anyone who will recognize when they are getting screwed and argue with them when they try to break rules and do things that are illegal. That high school graduate or person who didn't even graduate at all is less likely to argue when the manager tells him/her to clock out and keep working off the books (the supervisors here do that a LOT).

People have to be employed in order to qualify for food stamps or public assistance (unless they are disabled) and there are a LOT of people who have low enough income to qualify but aren't able to work but can't get disability. You have to work for 2 years to get disability & some of the people have mental and/or physical issues that made it so they were never able to keep a job that long. The employers around here treat employees like garbage, rip them off, etc.

Oh man, the salaried thing... My brother was offered a salaried position at the casino but after seeing another guy get a "promotion" to salaried & getting screwed, he said "no thanks". They made him work 80hrs a week without overtime & were only paying him 4cents more than regular salary for a 40hr work week. It used to be a salary was a good thing but now there are no pensions following it.

And people don't make enough $ to put in to savings accounts bc they have to pay the bills and frickin' sales tax is 10.45% on most things. It's 6% on food & medicine (even prescription). That 10.45% is also applied as service tax. There's even a tax on internet service (which is technically illegal but they call it a "fee" to get around it). The utility companies are borking people up the wazoo with their prices. Then there's the property taxes-- in my town if someone is late on property taxes they charge them $100 a month for every month they are late & if the taxes haven't been paid in 1 month they claim the property belongs to the city until taxes are paid and within 3 to 6 months they can take the property away from people. My friend's had to pay $600+ just in late fees when he found out his mom hadn't paid the property taxes for 6 months and he got an eviction notice. They don't even mail him to notify him what his property taxes are. He has to go to City Hall and ask them. From what I understand of the law, they are only supposed to be allowed to charge 10% of the property's value. Last time my friend's property was assessed around $60. So they charged $10x the tax. Then there is the income tax on top of this crap.

Ok, venting. LOL.

Anyway, I'm awake because I can't sleep bc I discovered my kitchen sink has two pinholes in the stainless steel and its been leaking under the noise reducing pad on the right basin. So, now need a new kitchen sink. It's not even visible from the top. Had to use a flashlight to see it.

You dont need a new kitchen sink, you need jb weld :)

Where do you live zan?

Mark, I live in Louisiana. Looks like Walmart has the JB weld. I'm guessing I would apply it from the bottom? Would I need some other piece of metal to weld to it or just put the jbweld stuff on? I wonder if I can find a metal scrap or washer or something that I can weld on to the bottom to reinforce and then tape over the weld with gorilla tape.

JBweld should go by itself.
