We dumped cable about 6-7 months ago. Best decision ever. Our bill was up to about $250 a month! Freaking ridiculous!

Still have internet at $65 a month and the old lady got us fire sticks. We have Hulu, HBO max, ESPN, and Disney. I watch more now than I ever did with cable and we're under $100 a month!

Spectrum can suck it .....
We basically did the same only my wife has to have certain channels like CNN but we kept basic and I got Discovery +. I love it, don't watch anything else other than football. Other than basic she was able to pick 10 channels to keep. Still save us a bunch. Discovery+ is like $6 a month with no commercials. If you like commercials it is like $4 a month. Plus the daughter hooked us up with a bunch of stuff for free.

Free ones are Free Peacock, Tubi, crackle, popcorn flix, CWseed. Of those, Tubi is probably the best. Being a veteran, you can get a free year of foxnation. curiosity stream, usually is about $1 a month, On black friday, I got Hulu for 99 cents a month for a year.

I can't fathom why someone would want CNN. LOL.
My components used to last a long time but the catalyst is my brother's un-neutered male cats. We've always gotten the cats spayed and neutered and he brought the parents of these cats home without permission and ended up with a bunch of kittens. He was supposed to get them neutered but he spent his stimulus check on some online classes to learn Japanese instead of getting them neutered. I even found a clinic that would do it for $50 per cat. The price at the local vet is well over $200, but he refused to get it done. So, the male cats started a turf war where they were spraying everything to argue over who owned what. My desktop became a prime target. One cat in particular is very bad about it and hosed it every chance he got. I taped up the side and moved the fans and moved the desktop farther away but he would still stand next to it and spray so it landed on top and went into the fans. Dripped down into everything. I repeatedly asked my brother to get them neutered but he didn't care because he can actually keep his door shut so the cats can't get in. My door is old and won't stay shut. When I braced something against it, the dog ended up tearing a hole in the door to get in. Anything I put to block them, the dogs move and let the cats in. I actually need to order a new door soon.
If it weren't for the fact that my brother got laid off last year and only got unemployment for 4 months (our state absolutely sucks for unemployment benefits) and he didn't have the $ anymore, I'd demand he pay for it.
It's starting to look like I may have to dip into my savings to get the cats neutered so I don't keep having my stuff wrecked by them.
Getting rid of them is not an option though. No shelters for cats and I'm attached to them. As much as they ruin stuff, I still love the kitties.

Now that I have my keyboard hooked to my laptop it's working a bit better but the left shift key is being persnickety.

The only down side to what we have for tv is we have commercials......

That doesn't bother me too much because shit, I had commercials my whole life until a few years ago. I'm sure you guys remember those too! They are a little strange though not being locally focused. There's a birth control commercial that starts out " welcome to my vagina" lol
But the commercials don't really bother me at all. Good time to take a leak or grab a snack/drink. My 8 year old who has never had to sit through a commercial in his life is adjusting though, lol

Bye bye Khars, hello Coretec. They like to push it here and won’t send out vapor barrier with a ‘waterproof’ floor but if my meter is pegged I’m gonna request one. Not to mention there were a couple of spots underneath the existing underlayment that felt wet so that settles that.

The sheriff stopped in to say hi.

Went and got hemoglobin level checked, staying close to normal. Changed the outside door handle on my Ford van. F**k Ford. Biggest PITA I ever worked on.
Brandon Ford?
Replaced the one on my S10 and in less than 6 months it broke again. If they could make the pot metal 1/16" thicker at the pivot point, it wouldn't have broke. Unfortunately, the NAPA handle was exactly the same as the factory one.

The problem with the Ford is when you squeeze the handle, a piece inside retracts so the handle can come out of the door. When that is the part that breaks, there is no back up option. So it becomes a fight. It took hours to get the handle out. Then no one, not even Ford has the replacement rivets, So I had to use bolts. I used a pair of 12" needle nose to reach inside and hold the nuts while I put bolts in from the outside. Not easy to do.

I put down 400 square feet of Coretec Alexandria Oak. Screwed up and ordered too much trim. But I still stayed on budget. $2300 for the planks and $700 for trim. But I did it myself with no prior experience.
There’s a learning curve but it isn’t too difficult to do it.

CJ, that is a nice little kitchen. The bench seat near the bay window is very nice. Doggy is adorable!

Tom, it looks very smooth and pretty! Doggy is adorable as well.

I managed to add a pin to my phone's lock screen-had to jump through hoops to get it to work. Now I've been able to retrieve some of my passwords for sites I'd visited on my phone. Still need to migrate more stuff over. Will have to set my desktop back up to get info off of it.

Got a kidney stone so I'm not feeling great. Making my whole lower back sore. My desktop is in the front room so I'll have to carry it in and hope it still boots up. When my back is feeling better I need to shut the water off and pop the push-fit things off my pex lines under my sink (since my friend switched hot & cold) and push them back up in the right spots. I also need to tackle weeds near the back door and haul some junk away to a burn pile. There's an old mattress and box spring out there. Cats have been climbing in to the box spring to hide so they will be unhappy about the removal. I need to make them some forts or something.

Ordered a new door for my bedroom since current one is borked.

On the way to work today and about a block or two before the house I saw an accident. I just thought a car hit a garbage truck but apparently the car hit the driver. As I was driving by the accident itself I saw a cop doing CPR on a dude wearing a high viz vest, the garbage man I suspect. On the way home there was a news van at that corner so I’m guessing somebody didn’t make it home to their family today. That’s bullshit! Some dude goes around picking up other peoples garbage for a living so he can put food on the table and damn if he didn’t make it home at the end of the day. Hope all of you out there in internet land are safe with your loved ones tonight.

Edit: It was a landscaper. Still feel bad for the man’s family. Landscaper dies after being hit by car in Surprise

Back to your regularly scheduled program. Had to break out the toe kick saw today since the floor was installed before the cabinets. I had to take the doors off so the toe kick saw would fit up against the cabinets. It’s always something, right.

The cabinets had some oak scribe molding that the customer wanted put back up. It was maybe 3/16” thick so I scribed net to the cabinets to make sure the scribe molding would cover everything up.

Mike A would recommend putting a piece of Formica up against the cabinets to protect them before you buzz your saw down. I prefer to make sure I have a decent blade with no bent teeth and I’m usually alright. There was just a little tickling of the cabinets. Nothing a little gun oil can’t fix. Rub some on the oak and voila. The sheriff stopped in again today and gave his approval so all is well in floating floor land.

Today a 5 year old dream came true and FF7 Remake was released to PC, I was angry that they wanted 90 dollars from me for it and then I went and bought it anyway because when you can buy happiness.... you should.

CJ, that is very sad about the landscaper. So many people don't look where they are going. The guy who ran over the dog in front of my friend's house has been driving by super slow ever since the lady across the street caught up with him and chewed him out. But so many people just speed down that road & don't care that there are kids and no sidewalks.

When you mentioned the garbage man I thought of a video where a garbage man is on the back of the garbage truck and some little kid runs behind the truck to cross the street. Man jumped down, grabbed the kid and spun around with him and pulled him out of the way of a speeding car. He just happened to look back and see the kid in time after he saw the car coming. Driver couldn't see the kid behind the truck & kid couldn't see the car around the truck but didn't bother to try to look. Kid's parents were very happy with that garbage man though.

Looks like the dog wants to inspect the work-- or the worker. LOL.

What platform is FF7 redo on? I had so much fun breeding chocobos in the original one. My sister was the only one of her friends to get a golden chocobo because I had the patience to go gather the feed and do the breeding (she did the racing part). I had chocobo dungeon game on one of the game systems. Don't even remember which one, but I might have to get it to play on my brother's new tv.

Today I managed to retrieve some of my data from my pc before it crashed again. Letting it cool for a few hours and trying to get more data after. I found a doorknob my mother really liked for sale on build.com. I just wanted her to look at it to determine if it was the style she liked. She bought 2 of them. LOL. Said when we sell this place and move somewhere nicer she wants to have those knobs installed somewhere. Schlage Georgian privacy knob with Brookshire trim. A little too fancy for me. I like the camelot trim better.

It was a PS4 release last April 10th, then they released Intergrade for PS5 and finally it just got released for PC today.

I have been waiting a long time for this and almost broke down a few times over the last 17 months and bought a ps4 to play it... then I remembered patience.

FF7 Was and is and always will be my most enjoyable/memorable video game experience of all time. I got it and a PS one for Christmas when it was first released when I was 13? and am fairly sure it contributed the most to not losing my virginity until I was 18 ;)
....that and Magic the Gathering lol

severe t storm warning 60-70- mph winds and quarter size hail
We're the weather people right? They predict doom and gloom regularly but it's not remotely like they predict. They've changed the forecasted rainfall amounts to include the total predicted storm system so it sounds worse than it actually is. 3 1/2" sounds like a lot, but not so exciting if its over a 4 day period.

Everyone thinks that's a dog but it's a pig.
......it's a real ham.

I worked on Golden pond today.
....well, it's a lake that's separated from the ocean by a seawall. Amazingly calm this afternoon.
The job was a restretch. Carpeting was installed 15+ years ago. I did a restretch 5 or .....7 years ago?
It loosened up again, so this time I'm stretching the wrinkles towards the doorways and remaking some good looking seams. One done, one to go.

MarkB, you would have gotten along well with my brother then. He was all bout the video games and Magic The Gathering. FF7 is the first Final Fantasy Game I really got into. I played all sorts of other games before that but the other FF games weren't as fun to me. My brother's favorite is FF5. I didn't get in to the card thing because I was never that social. I preferred to read comic books.

Highup, that's beautiful scenery!

Bout to go cook for Mom and then check the post office for mail.
